We had a store inventory going on at Cost Plus World Market at Oak Brook this early in the morning. I'm looking around everywhere right now since I was so heavily concentrated this morning in my tasks...There are lots of stuff for the home - wine, beer, coffee, tea, sauces, furniture, dishware, yard chairs, lamps, towels, etc. I mean look at the photo, alone. Everything smack dabbed in this store is so neatly, awesomely prepped and organized. Looks like I will have to visit this on one of my upcoming days off. If I was to go on the ultimate shopping experience for home decor, I don't mind spending money here.

TIMEWARPED: Photo Flashback - April, 2008 feat. my friend Ray in Disney World (Orlando)

In this latest post of TIMEWARPED is a snapshot of my best friend Ray during his first time in Disney World (as well as the city beautiful that is Orlando, FL). He has on the 'first visit' badge to officially celebrate his milestone in making his dreams come true on April, 2008. And he didn't even had to pay a cent or a dollar for his admission as I was a Disney 'Cast Member' (employee) at the time who was given this great privilege by a great employer (Disney). Friends hook friends up, that's how it goes :) ... I know he wants to go back to Orlando again for the 3rd time since he went to Universal on his previous visit. What's next? Seaworld? It's a possibility :)

I don't care what any fanboy critic might say BUT thank goodness for Dreamworks, Hasbro & Michael Bay's direction - that there are these TRANSFORMERS movies. Because it was impossible years ago to make this toy franchise come to life. I look forward to 'Dark of the Moon.' I enjoyed the making of it in downtown Chicago. Now it'll be a matter of time to see the final product in the theater :)

You can call this latest TIMEWARPED post a 'special edition.' It doesn't feature myself, my family, my friends - or EVEN my co-workers that were on-hand with me to see this. This is actually flashbacking to a filmshoot for 'TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON' that took place in Chicago a year ago (July-August 2010 to be precisely exact) in which all the notable vehicles, cast, and stuntwork effects made their presence known in a huge way delighting native Chicagoans and tourists, alike ... The final Michael Bay-directed product makes it's way to theaters on June 29th, 2011 in which we'll see everything coming together, especially the bazillion dollar effects (lol). We'll all see a battle-ravaged Chicago happening, but thank goodness, it's nothing real. But just imagine though - enemy Decepticon alien robots attacking this beloved city. It'd be crazy! At least, the beloved Autobots would get our back, especially under the awesomeness of heroic Autobot leader, Optimus Prime.

Here I am sitting inside my car here at the park. My #12 Dwight Howard blue-colored jersey dripped in moderate sweat. My bald head, sweating profusely like MJ during his playing days. My thirst for water, aplenty. It was another day burning the calories out and what better way to do than shooting hoops. And these TS Commander kicks I'm wearing are still comfortable as the other one which are also of the Adidas brand.Following an impressive performance a few days ago, I wanted to exceed those expectations perhaps beating what I pulled off before. But this time around, the rhythm was not-so-consistent as there were good times and bad times. However, I continued on relentlessly fighting the good fight after missing a couple. I was able to improve shots successfully on the 3-point line and this time I aimed with confidence. It was a good performance but not as amazing as last week. Seems like I always tend to do so well with the white-colored #12 Howard jersey than this blue one I'm wearing... At least, I'm happy to call it a day and head home now. Next time, I'm gonna sport on my Jordans.

A Technological Flaw

Looks like things aren't working all to well this morning when it comes to sending messages for my new Gmail account that I wanted to use exclusively via Blackberry. Its also the same tool I use to send out blogs. So I'm typing this using one of my old Gmail accounts and I hope this blog goes through. My new Gmail account is suspended until further notice. I wasn't even told what I have violated. I can only assume that Blackberry and Google got different terms of service which may have triggered and initiated the suspension/disabling of the new Gmail account to occur....So, with that in mind, I have learned that the geeks or the powers-that-be can do some control. Let's hope this message makes its way through. It should be ok to send this out from
my old Gmail account.

Beating my old blog totals record from 2007

June has been awesome so far in regards to my blog activities as it has sharply skyrocketed since recommitting myself last Memorial Day weekend in this latest 'reboot' of my official blog page - 'Jonnyroobs Centralized.' I have actually superseded the totals from June, 2007's blog postings which was 27 - the highest of its time. For my latest round this month, I spiked my blog postings to 38. That's an increase of 11. But it's not over yet. I can still come up with maybe 5 or 10 more blogs before the end of the month to make it the highest blog activity to date....So what does this tell you guys? It means you'll have to come back checking for more or what you've been missing out on (depending on how you look at it) ... Thanks to everyone for their support and keeping the Jonnyroobs concept alive since I had to shut down my website domain a couple months ago. Still kicking butt :)

He knows that I have taken a lot of snapshots some of which we can't seem to recall in this present day since there was just so many. After the huge loss of Sax great & Springsteen sidekick 'The Big Man' Clarence Clemons a few days ago, two more followed this week, alone. Peter Falk, longtime actor known for his role as Det. Columbo in 'Columbo' died at the age of 83 from dementia & Alzheimer's disease complications...Class-act pro sports broadcaster, Nick Charles, succumbed at 64 after bravely battling his bout w/ bladder cancer since 2009...And on another note, today also marks the 2 year anniversary of Farrah Fawcett's and Michael Jackson's passing, as well.

Michael Jackson...remembered today

Today marks the 2nd year anniversary of the King of Pop's untimely passing. His music still lives on vicariously within everyone who has seen and heard the man. One of the most greatest, charismatic, influential artists & figures of our time. Michael Jackson remains to be that beacon of light in everyone to enjoy & appreciate the most out of life whether it's getting on your feet and feeling good OR healing the world and caring about one another. He left an amazing legacy behind. Let's all take time to remember MJ for what he was and the purpose he lived ... I will play my MJ jams shortly and celebrate this man's life.

Today, my assignment was located once again in South Chicago, BUT this is the first time I've ever worked deep into ground zero of that area. That means more of the dirty streets filled w/ odd characters left and right on just about every block. The majority were african-americans. Some looked homeless. Others don't look so trustworthy. Some were yelling out their problems on the phone not caring to make their problems privately at all. Then there were people that complained too damn much on anything and everything while I was in the store working on my inventory duties. It was urban blight everywhere some of which required police present at certain times. I am glad to be in the care and company of street-smart co-workers who know this part of South Chicago so well. They even had to give me and Riza good advice on how the usual people there operate so that we wouldn't fall prey to anyone's schemes, especially those that beg for money ... The McDonald's we dined-in was not what we expected either. The restrooms require for a manager or McD's personnel to operate the lock/open door for the customer to enter. But before they do open the door, they request a receipt making sure that the individual is actually a customer of theirs. And once you enter the restroom, there are padlocks and chains right between the toilet papers. There have been incidents before that people have stolen something in the restroom. Weird, huh. Parts of the McD's also have steel bars in their windows which would deter thieves from trespassing during a drive-thru. I noticed too that there are several sheets of paper on their walls detailing instructions for the customers. As for the food itself, it lacks quality. Their Big Mac sandwich was sloppily topped off looking that pales in comparison to the image depicted on the picture menu. And the chicken McNuggets we had was so dry, as if it's been 30-40 minutes old. It felt like I was eating more of the coating than the chicken inside. But I guess that was the McD's experience in itself as we were still trying to be "lovin' it," as the restaurant's tagline goes. Despite everything, we all survived making it home safe and sound. I gotta tell you all that this is in fact one of the images of AMERICANA whether its to our liking or not. The streets and the people that inhabit the area definitely tell a story. I am already compelled and fascinated by the rural, urban, and metropolitan areas here in Illinois. I have traveled so many roads and routes everywhere in this state and I'm always in awe every time I check out something. The South Chicago area is one of them. Although I have had my first share of experience there, I really do not wish to return there. But if I do have to come back for yet another fresh assignment, I'll just have to take it in stride.

A Job Update Blog from my Netbook ...

Looks like there hasn't been any time to do any job searches or resume submittals lately. Been working a lot lately on my job's assignments, some of which has took a toll on my sleeping habits. Nevertheless, I can always feel that strength in me to always go on despite how tired or weary I am ... There has been some sort of progress. A marketing promotions company is calling me for an interview, but I'm not sure if that is something I like to do for the long-term. I'd rather work in a desk job again keying in data-entry on the computer or performing other clerical duties that can make time go so fast. And of course, a position that can promote itself from within ... I've been feeling aches and pains on my joints when I work. Looks like I haven't worked this hard ever in my life since bagging groceries at the commissary in the early to mid 90s ... Here's hoping one day I'll work in a suit and tie. But first, I have to look for a new pair of men's shoes and trim my waist to at least a 32 or 33 so I can fit in those slacks I brought from Virginia. I look forward to better days ahead keeping the optimism alive.

A Mini-Blog from my PC...

It is with tremendous joy to say this to the blogosphere: my friends from Bradenton, FL - Eileen and her husband Kris are going to be first-time parents to a baby...Eileen has recently shown (via Facebook) an ultrasound photo showing the baby in its early stages. I am so proud of them. Just over a year and 2 months ago, I was at their wedding as one of the groomsmen.

Clarence Clemons (1942-2011)

Saxophone great, Clarence Clemons has passed away on June 18, 2011 from stroke-related complications in Florida. He leaves behind a music legacy that has spanned generations (new & old, alike), including his 40-year run with 'The Boss' Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band. Clemons didn't just rely on his musical gift alone but he also lent his acting talents as well, featured on TV and even movies such as 'New York, New York' and 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.' He was also a philanthropist reaching out to charities and fundraisers. In his life, he's come to appreciate everything, including happiness. It's got him through tougher times especially when he had to face numerous bouts regarding his health. Despite everything, he kept everything positive.

Clemons remained active during his last years performing with the E Street Band and having a cameo in Lady Ga Ga's new video "Edge Of Glory" in which he performs the sax in that track. Lady Ga Ga has said previously in an MTV documentary that Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band was her musical influence during her childhood.

He leaves behind four sons: He fathered four sons, Clarence III, Charles, Christopher and Jarod.

I have personally watched Bruce Springsteen's videos on MTV 25+ years ago as a child and I can never seem to separate him and the band. They are all the best of friends. They needed each other and he's hung onto them right to the very end. He personified greatness, became a mainstream icon to most of us, and was beloved by all walks of life. This man most certainly deserves to be praised for what he's unselfishly given to the world. There is only one Clarence Clemons. I'm glad to have been a part of the listening ears for years that have come to appreciate his sounds. He will definitely be missed.

Bruce Springsteen's statement reads: "Clarence lived a wonderful life. He carried within him a love of people that made them love him. He created a wondrous and extended family. He loved the saxophone, loved our fans and gave everything he had every night he stepped on stage. His loss is immeasurable and we are honored and thankful to have known him and had the opportunity to stand beside him for nearly forty years. He was my great friend, my partner and with Clarence at my side, my band and I were able to tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music. His life, his memory, and his love will live on in that story and in our band."

Another day at the park shooting hoops

It is a beautiful Friday morning in the park. I'm glad it is my day off from work today. This gives me the chance to perfect my jump shots, especially at the 3-point line. I felt inspired from LeBron James who could always pull it off so well from the arc in n the Finals' Games 1 and 2, respectively. The same for Dirk Nowitzki who shot his one long-arc jumper that the camera person wasn't able to capture on the screen during the NBA Finals coverage. There was this short guy like me - J.J. Barea, who can always shoot it from downtown. And when it came to the regular season, there is Ray Allen of the Celtics drilling the 3's so precisely angled. Lastly, it comes down to the Orlando Magic with Jameer Nelson doing his from downtown! ... So it finally was my turn to get things going. First, I practiced hitting the ball to the backboard at a certain angle as a way for the ball to go in. Dwyane Wade of the Heat was always getting this down pat. The same with Dwight Howard during his practice sessions. Then, I've decided to shoot the regular 2-point jumpers. It was fair enough. But I accepted to challenge myself and go with the 3-pointers. There were a couple of shots I was lucky at making, but sometimes I've made some airballs really off the trajectory. But I realized that I wasn't fully using my right hand and arm as the trigger. I started to improve by hitting the ball to the rim so often in a few attempts, but it never went in. However, that also meant I was getting it right. I had to get more inspiration in myself. There was a 1992 video that a friend filmed of me with my brother at his home. I closed my eyes and remembered how good I was at the arc. YES, that's it. I have to aim the ball right to the basket but for it to usually go directly in, the arc technique has to be used. And it worked and so forth. My last shots in a row were 3's and I was able to master it so well by the end. I guess we'll just have to see how I'll do the next time I go back to the park's basketball court. I'm proud of myself today. Every sweat and calorie burn was worth it in the 82 degree weather:)

I'm happy that LeBron has accepted he's got 'a lot to learn' ...It takes a lot of courage from the gifted athlete especially against all opposition ranging from his haters and the media loathing on his every flaw. I know one day, he'll get his ring and be among the immortal nba greats years from now.

Marvel Studios is most certainly going to succeed with this one having their line of superheroes teaming up for the first-time ever on the big screen, especially at the point where DC Comics is still struggling, yet trying to get most of their hero movies out there....Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk and Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D all in one movie - together! This is gonna rock!!!!!

I missed out on seeing the game because I'm on a 2-hr ride home from Bloomington. But congratulations to the Dallas Mavericks in winning the finals 105-95 over the much hyped-about, talented Miami Heat led by James, Wade & Bosh.

Here's the update so far. Still logged into Careerbuilder to find more job leads and opps. Got at least 4 or 5 to submit my resume to. I didn't do much today because I ended up doing some errands so early in the morning and eventually caught up with my long sleep most of the afternoon. I will most likely continue my job searching for most of tomorrow.

I voted for 'THE VOICE' contestants Dia Frampton (Team Blake) & Raquel Castro (Team Christina)

It took me a few days to do this but I finally put in my online votes respectively for two of my favorite contestants from NBC's hit-reality contest 'THE VOICE.' I passed on the phone process. My first pick is unanimous. It's none other than Racquel Castro (from Team Christina Aguilera), the child actress that was from the Kevin Smith-directed, Ben Affleck/Jennifer Lopez-starrer 2004 flick 'Jersey Girl.' She's truly come of age (now in her late teens) and has what it takes to be a young sensation proving that with her diva-like swagger onstage.....And then there is singer/songwriter Dia Frampton (from Team Blake Shelton) - someone I haven't heard of until now. She's the best thing since the Utah Jazz made it to the Finals back in the late-90s. She's got that cute factor with her vocal abilities. Dia may be timid and shy, but when she's on stage and is turned loose, she's fierce! That was the case a few days ago when she did her cover of Kanye West's 'Heartless' making it her own. Dia is no stranger to the music biz. She's part of the band, MEG & DIA.....I will continue my voting process and keep pulling for these two should they stick around for the next round. Next week, each team is to eliminate 2. This is gonna get interesting as I look to seeing the talent pool perform from teams with Adam Levine (of Maroon 5) and Cee-Lo (formerly of Gnarlz Barkley).

My Honda Civic, flooded again

My '01 Honda Civic was one of many vehicles parked at the flooded residents-only lot. The storm (backed with its fierce powerful lightning) arrived last night but I assumed that the worst portion of this nasty weather came around the time I was working (at about 6 or 7am in the morning). It was pouring hard at my job assignment in Woodridge so I was very certain that it was also happening in Aurora. I didn't had any worries of my Civic because I haven't witnessed any floodwater activity in the parking lot firsthand since our move last November. But I guess I can learn now, especially with what just happened. Whenever these storms exist and a flash flood watch is a possibility, I must take necessary precautions to park my vehicle to the area where there is higher ground. In addition to that, I must not be near the sewage area as that may form a huge puddle of water in the beginning...The interior didn't seem to look bad. My rubber mats held most of the water. However, it's still damp and moist. I look forward to taking most of the moisture buildup hopefully by tomorrow. The Civic's a survivor as it braved weather conditions as well as age. She's still hanging in there despite the engine being halfway in the water. And make this the second time. Previously, she had her first share of flood waters a few months ago while it was parked at my manager's home during a party....Civic still got a couple of years and miles left for more highlights and milestones to come. But I definitely won't call this latest situation a 'highlight.'

I've been on the internet for the last few hours after looking over my resume (which has been revised earlier this year). So far, I've logged into the jobsites: Careerbuilder and Indeed. Nothing much out there just yet. However, it's a good suggestion to narrow things down geographically to at least 3 towns nearby Aurora, IL. I have looked closely on my job experiences and skills themselves and see what I've grasped so far. Lastly, I have to ask myself where I want to go and work for as opposed to somewhere I would least likely work at. It would be great to put on the slacks, buttoned shirt, and necktie again. If that's the look I'll go with, then I'd have to work in-office. So that's the next goal right there. My preference is for the long-term all the way, but if it's for a temp agency that I can work for a long time - that's better than nothing ... Today's round of job-searching seem to show promises. For every day that I put effort, I know there'll be an opportunity waiting. This is just the beginning.

However, all of the mentioned won't start until I finish cooking lunch and picking up Rizz from her assignment..more updates to come!

Today's that day in which I have to start initiating action to find a job..I'm gonna look for geographic preferences in the area, retool resume, apply online.

As much as I love to hone more of my skills to blogging, I would like to use that same type of energy and emphasize more on my goals in my personal life..

'X-Men: First Class' doesn't convince me at all to watch it in theaters

I'm sure most of you agree with me on this: the last X-Men movie ('The Last Stand')sucked big time! I didn't liked the story. I didn't liked what happened to some of the main characters. I didn't liked it all - period. That right there put my hopes down. I could care less about a prequel right now unless they correctify the events from 'The Last Stand.' There's gotta be a follow-up to that movie. It has to be awesome like 'X-Men 2: X-Men United.' But THAT is SOOOO unlikely to happen (for now) as there's this hyped-up prequel titled: 'X-Men: First Class' which explains the origins of the superhero mutant team in the year 1962 ... Ok, so there was a movie preview of the flick. I was looking forward to it with some (errr) anticipation, but I am wondering who these stars are. I see there are those dudes from 'Wanted' and '300' but it just brings little spark of interest. The rest of the cast are mostly a bunch of unknowns, some of which are kinda known to the world. There is Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz's daughter, Zoe and Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone). But still, these not-so-A-list stars cannot help bring so much of the starpower and hype - even my hype, for that matter...ANNNND, 20th Century Fox also put my hopes down, as well. They have total creative control of this Marvel Comic superhero adaptation in live-action movie format. And (gasp) Marvel can't? What? No way. YES WAY. All of the potential that Marvel can do to fix it up just can't happen with this movie. The story right up to the effects seem to need a little more fixing. The trailer alone shows that to me already. That Marvel-ness is missing big time. It doesn't have the formulaic feel like Marvel Studios-helmed flicks 'The Incredible Hulk', 'Iron Man' 1 & 2, and 'Thor.' Time will only tell that the Sony-in-charge 'Amazing Spider-Man' movie will be as decent as the Maguire-starrer/Raimi-directed trilogy......Of all that I've said here, I will have to wait till 'X-Men: First Class' comes to redbox rental in a few more months. It'd be interesting to check it for a $1 or $1.50 out as a home video DVD/blu-ray release. That's only how much this movie will take out of my pocket.

122 million votes made contestant, Scotty McCreery, 17, of Garner, NC - a winner at the end of the American Idol finale a few days ago. My hat goes off to the country sensation for his talent in the genre as well as his showmanship and humbleness that he has expressed on the show time after time. So far, he is a phenom on-track to be the one of the future stars in country music alongside Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Josh Turner, etc. His post-idol success is already hitting mainstream with his first single, "I Love You This Big" dominating iTunes downloads at #1 and it's also going sky high on the Billboard Top charts...He's currently working on his first album which is to be under the Mercury Nashville label...You know going back, the Idol judges were right. They said that they found a legend. And they've been right on the money along along. He's always had it even before his televised day one audition in which he was serenading to Josh Turner's 'Your Man' song with the lyrics 'Baby lock the door, and turn the lights down low, put some music on thats soft and slow.' It's because he's already a natural at what he does and that's passionately performing country music to all the people out there. It's in his blood. I'm looking forward to getting my copy of the season 10 Idol winner's album due in stores really soon.

Scotty McCreery celebrated his Idol win by showing up at my favorite theme park in the world - Walt Disneyworld, singing to throngs of delighted fans who were there on-hand to hear him sing his song.

My girlfriend loves the guy. I can't blame her for liking him. He's a gentleman.

Collecting blu-ray movies

They've started as 2 or 3. And a few months later, they multiplied to 20. Next thing I know, I realized that I bought 40 of them already. Ever since I bought my blu-ray player back in early, 2010 - I never stopped shopping for blu-ray discs. But I do have many factors in mind that lead to buying them. I have my own ways. First, it comes to shopping in the store not knowing what deal I'll be getting. Stores like Best Buy and Wal-Mart deliver some good low-priced titles on a limited time. That's when I start buying more, for each lesser-priced titles. Imagine one for $9.99 and another for $12.99. You're saving, right? RIGHT! It's also suggestible to buy recent high-priced discs and wait it out for a while till the prices go down. However, it's also best to make the purchase on a new movie (or even a classic) that is released on blu-ray format it's first day. Sometimes the first day makes a difference because many days later, the price is likely to change by an increase of $5. Take for instance, a newly released title on blu-ray at Best Buy. It would be $19.99 or $22.99 the first day. A week later from that day, it'll be marked up to $24.99 or $29.99. Another way of buying low-priced blu-ray titles is getting them from Amazon's third-party dealers. But it's best be careful sometimes because some of the movies they'll deliver may be just a copied blu-ray movie with a fake cover. It happened to me once and that alone stopped me from doing the Amazon thing for now. However, I must say - the movie did, in fact played well considering it wasn't the real thing. I also shop for previously-viewed blu-ray selections at a Blockbuster. They're as decently priced like a $9.99 title from Best Buy, but the only drawback is that they're previously viewed. That's all, really. Just make sure you're getting one that is in good, playable condition. Do not just leave the store thinking what you have is great. Always look at the disc itself to see if there are any marks or scratches with the sales associate during checkout. So far, I've had no problem with my previously-viewed blu-ray discs. And lastly, buy with confidence. Go for the movies you want to own, not rent. You'd probably regret it one of these days saying to yourself, 'why did I wanna buy that in the first place?' I know, right. LOL. But you also have the power to control your movie titles and rid of those less-deserving sequels that don't deserve to see the light of day. A great movie franchise alone can produce these worthless sequels along the way and we don't want a part of that, right? RIGHT again. Some of the titles that I can throw right of the bat are the Terminator, the Matrix and Batman sequels. Those are a good example of how good movie franchises can go bad a few years later after their blockbuster successes. Yeah, it ruins the continuity and rhythm of a movie series but better buying something worth it than adding something that 'absolutely sucks' beyond belief. Most movies and their good/bad sequels can be individually purchased as they're getting more power to the consumers like you and I ... And there you have it! Those are my ways on how I buy a blu-ray movie title that deserves to be spent with my hard-earned American dollars. LOL.

Gonna bring back the word, 'FRESH'

I haven't heard the word 'FRESH' in years. I felt inspired last night. One of my friends posted the word on Facebook and I'm saying to myself 'why not use it again?' Last time I uttered that word was back in middle school. That would be 1986-1988. Back in those days, many hip-hop artists coined the word 'FRESH' into their awesome rhymes. And then it would trend to the general public as the youth were saying this word so often. Then, as the years went by, it got lost. The same with another word: 'DEF' which got a burial as seen through TV. Hopefully there'll be a resurgence of those words again, especially for the youth today who are opened to anything and everything that's in front of them. Those words 'FRESH' and 'DEF' are thought to be extinct, but deep inside every one of us, it still resonates and very much alive. And I'm gonna start using those words again like it was yesterday. It should be fun to associate 'freshness' back into the mainstream starting with the Chicago area, as well as in the Facebook world.

Erik Spoelstra: First Filipino-American Coach in the NBA

Man, that is SO awesome of a Filipino-American coaching three of the biggest superstars (Bosh, LeBron & D-Wade) and the rest of the Miami Heat players. Erik Spoelstra, 40, started off as the team's video coordinator, then assistant coach (especially during the 2006 championship season, and now head coach (replacing the legendary Pat Riley, who is now team president). The Heat are just 3 more wins away from winning it all in the 2011 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. Their road to victory remains to be seen as this blog is written while the series is 1-0, Miami Heat leading. Should the Heat win, this'll be their 2nd Finals win AND Spoelstra's milestone of being THE FIRST FILIPINO-AMERICAN COACH in the NBA to ever win the Finals...So tonight's another game as they'll do battle again. The guys will give their all for Coach Spoelstra!

Dwight Howard's Going His Path In Orlando (for now)..Results Pending

I felt inspired yesterday and today donning Dwight Howard's #12 Orlando Magic (away colors) Adidas swingman jersey. I couldn't be happier hearing the news that he's going his own path and sticking to the city of Orlando for the time being. That's unprecedented news indeed, especially coming from a star-caliber athlete who is capable of landing big in a good team after next season. He wants to work with Magic management and get this whole campaign going filled with dedicated players, personnel, the works! This would translate Orlando from a smaller market to a big, robust market in which the city can get a lot of revenue from the Magic's success under Howard's leadership on-the-court. So that means he'd be around for the next few years. With that in mind, we're in the works of possibly moving there soon - and perhaps I can see more of Dwight & the Magic at the awesome Amway Center (in which I haven't went there yet). I did, however, went to the Amway Arena (their old home) in 2008 and 2009 before I moved back to Virginia - and then later on, in Chicago ... So Dwight's proposal is in limbo right now as the Magic have yet to let him sign that extension and make that promise to make the necessary changes to their key components (the players). I know they'll get him - and the guys they need (calling Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets).May the force be with you, Dwight, as you are in the photo with Chewbacca in Disney's Star Tours. I wish he'd be a part of your Magic line-up. LOL. And to end this off, I'll do what Dwight usually does to end his blog: "Yuuuuuuuuuuuuua."

Shaq retires

No one touches the Shaqtus - and that means, nobody! Today, the gargantuan 7'1" 325 lb. NBA center, Shaquille O'Neal (a/k/a 'Superman', 'Shaq Diesel', 'Shaq-Fu', 'The Shaqtus', 'Big Aristotle', 'SUPERMAN' etc. - and now as of 6/3/11 during his retirement press conference - 'The Big AARP') has decided to call it quits on his 19-year prolific career and retire on his own terms. He leaves behind a stellar resume which includes four championships (3 with the Lakers and 1 with the Heat), garnering MVPs, an All-Star for the East & West, and scoring 28,596 career points (funny bit: he said in his retirement press conference that if it weren't for his missed free throws, he would've made it to 30,000 points). On the side, he was also a versatile rapper, an actor and a reality show star (on Shaq vs). O'Neal had been suffering an injury on his Achilles recently. He knew right then and there on exactly what to do next. His presence will surely be missed whether you're a teammate, a coach, a reporter, or anybody for that matter who comes in contact with him. They all know his funny antics, his awesome sense of humor, and his outspokenness on things. I've seen him play through the years on TV and he was brilliant. It's a great storybook ending to a career that has lasted almost 2 decades. I look forward to seeing him get inducted to the Hall of Fame as he will become a worthy inductee a few years from now. Take a bow, Shaq. You truly deserve it!

Keep Yourself & Others Cautioned During Summer Fun

The warm heat has ushered its way through most of America. That means we have to be aware of the risk factors involved around us as they can do more harm than good.

Definitely pass on the info from yourself to others with the following:

Lather sunscreen at all times because the sun rays themselves are a huge risk to our skin that could yield cancerous results.

Keep yourselves hydrated with fluids if you or anyone plan to spend the long day in the heat. Not doing so can cause fainting thus yielding a major heat stroke in your body.

Spray insect repellant to open areas of your body where insects have the strong possibility of causing bites at. We don't want mosquitoes nowhere around us, or any insects for that matter. As explained years before, there are mosquitoes than can pass flu-like symptoms carrying a potential life-threatining virus.

And lastly, watch the kids at the pool or at the beach. It's the fun time in summer and we'd all like to prevent a tragedy like this from occurring. Drowning can claim anyone at anytime, especially on the little ones. It's recommended to have a lifeguard on duty or someone that is capable of first-aid and rescue. Having them around is an assured sign that safety is present on-site.

So here we are as it's summer 2011. Have fun and do everything possible to make yourself and others enjoy the season to the fullest!

The Hangover: Part II

I'm not gonna spoil everything for all you fellow readers in regards to The Hangover: Part II, but I must say that it had everything so crude to satisfy the moviegoer anticipating for it. I can list 'em all from beginning to end, but I'll just toss in some tidbits here and there. There are some scenes that show full-frontal male nudity as I kid you not.  The jokes are really 'a ball-out-of-the-park homerun' as they get better and better! The whole plot itself is a like a 'cut-and-paste' method taking things from the original and adding our fellow wolfpack to newer settings: Thailand. Overall, this movie will leave you on the floor laughing so hard and saying to yourself in the end, "It's a friggin' brilliant masterpiece!" Because it is just that. And it just reeked in box office cash this Memorial Day weekend taking in the #1 spot over the competition which included that of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' and Kung Fu Panda 2.' The totals so far is estimated at $130 mil ... My personal experience in seeing this movie kinda hit a weird spot, too. For me, it was just the usual. But I also brought in Rizz and a female co-worker of ours to see it. It was their first time in the theater together and they've never seen so many men's private parts in one movie. LOL.

Bulls Lose The Opportunity

Just trying to update my previous posting. This happened a few days ago. The Chicago Bulls had let their chance of their Finals' run slip away against the Heat (despite the home advantage that went on in this best of 7 series). Bulls only won 1 out of the 5 games played. The Miami Heat led by their supermen (D-Wade, LeBron James, & Chris Bosh) advance to the Finals facing the same opponents from 5 years ago - The Dallas Mavericks, led by a reinvigorated Dirk Nowitski. As for the Bulls, they'll have to look to changes in the offseason which can affect their roster later this year when a new season starts. Derrick Rose cannot do it alone. Kudos to the Bulls on making it this far.

Congrats, Chicago Bulls in the Playoffs

Here's to a good NBA ball club, their superstar MVP Derrick Rose, and Coach Thibodeau! Everyone has done a marvelous job in the playoffs thus far (including the regular season in which they owned the best record). Right now you guys are going against the Heat which have a talented squad, especially consisting of the three (Bosh, LeBron, and D-Wade) and coached by the one and only Erik Spoelstra. As of right now, it's a seesaw battle and may the best team win! I'm hoping for the Bulls to emerge victorious as I currently reside in Bulls country.

Coldness gone; Warm summer weather brings fun - what to do, what to do!

(blog entry created in May, 2011) Here I am doing a work-related errand this afternoon. However, that alone will not occupy most of my time right now. I'm actually doing two things - typing this entry AND listening to the Bulls/Heat game 3 in the company vehicle's radio system. I usually don't take my netbook in tow, but I think I have to start making this a habit whenever I get an open opportunity to do so.

The Chicago area has now gotten out of the cold weather that had dominated for such a long time - when was it - October or November? The weather conditions and temperatures have never been this better. I find that awesome and those days of cabin fever are done with for the time being. I've never had this many days of staying home and not going out - because it was so cold. After being here for more than a year already, I'm still adjusting and it's not easy. Not easy for a dude like me that used to live in tropical settings before in the sunshine state of Florida.

With the weather going great now, that leaves room for more activity. And NO I'm not talking about work-related activities. I'm talking about all that leisure time to go around-and-about downtown or visiting the many suburbs that surround the Chicago area alone.

So what's there to do in the great city? I'd love to do some window shopping at the Magnificent Mile in the Michigan Avenue area. Maybe check out the aquatic animals at the Shedd Aquarium. Perhaps see a ballgame featuring the Chicago White Sox or the Chicago Cubs. Hmm, maybe take a stroll around Grant Park and Millennium Park. I'd probably save the best for last - the Navy Pier, for a great time.

Then again, I can go small scale.

I've come to appreciate small towns during my frequent work routes via scenic routes and several interstate changes. To tell you the truth, I am overwhelmed. I've never seen this many towns in my life in one area alone. This totally beats the Orlando area which is only 1/3rd of Chicago's size.

So what activities can small towns have? Well, there are some local events that go on during certain times such as parades, festivals, outdoor markets at the parking lot. Best advantage to check this out is go for a ride on the Metra commuter train and stop by these towns around the weekend. With the weekend pass having unlimited rides and stops, you can have as much fun as you want.

But for most of this to happen, I would have to make the necessary improvement in trying to get another job, which I've failed to do. I need to stop the procrastination such as going to Facebook, Twitter, and Google so often - and even repititiously. If I accomplish this task, I will be able to balance things in my life, especially on my personal time in which I don't plan on staying home all too much. I want myself and Rizz to do enjoy the most of our freetime. Seems like work is the mainstay to our active lives right now as we've been working machines day and night. Maybe that's why I lack the 'feel' for liking my surroundings at the moment. We just don't have enough time to go anywhere for the heck of it. By the time we get home and get the day off going on, we're so tired to do anything.

I look forward to challenging myself to better my life. Not just for me, but for Rizz, as well. It may not be easy all the time but I'll take the initiative to implement the change that's needed. I want to make the most out of the Chicago lifestyle while I can. There's so much to check out here. And it's all in the waiting for me to check out. It may not be Orlando or Virginia Beach, but I'll do my best to have as much fun as possible and not taking granted for the great days of summer. As I'm here for the time being, I gotta enjoy the sweet ride that is Chicago. I just may never know what destination in the U.S. I could reside next. That's the amazing part about life - not knowing where you'd end up. But at the same time, God's continuing to bless me in the greatest of ways and letting me enjoying life wherever I am.

My take on the 'Move-Over' Law

(blog entry created in April, 2011).....Let me shoot off for today's blog while munching on Boston Creme donuts this morning at Dunkin Donuts. I must admit that the IL state troopers got a good weapon here that they use on all drivers in this state. They do it at their own discretion and they can get whoever they want at a certain-so time they choose. And despite their initiative to stop drivers for the 'move-over' law (a/k/a Scott's Law), many are still getting away with it. A few months ago, I was pulled over for that. And I was the only one out of all drivers that sped up to 55 mph because I was driving a company vehicle for my job. I didn't mind the fact that I did break this type of law (as it applies in this state), but I am so profoundly disappointed that a lot of drivers I've witnessed don't get pulled over for the same exact thing I committed. I find it unfair, unjust and so wrong. I think that state troopers use this 'move-over' law as an effective tool to take away $$$ from anybody as a financial means to help the budget to maintain and build roadways in this state. The move-over law should apply to everybody that breaks it, myself included. I'm all for it. The law itself helps protect fellow emergency/maintenance personnel from harm during emergency procedures on the shoulder portion in all highways. For those that want to know how Scott's Law got started, it was because a drunk driver moron who hit a fireman hero during an emergency operation on the highway. Because of that, the law came into place and was passed through state legislation a couple years ago. The impending result of my situation was that I had to pay a court costs and fines, as well as attorney fees. But the good part from all of this was that my driving record is still good and that I have my license back (note: It was taken away when I was pulled as a way to bond myself). It was better than what the state trooper dude was requesting: to have my license suspended for 3 months and pay a fine. I've learned a lot from all of this and I want to pass this message to those that live in this state: DO NOT be the next one to be pulled-over by the trooper. Obey Scott's Law for what it is. Move your car one lane to the left or right depending where the emergency vehicle is with their rotating lights. It may not be easy sometimes as road conditions may vary, but do what you can to slow down and execute the move properly/cautiously. Sure you'll see rulebreaking drivers that won't act on it, but that doesn't mean you have to do the same. They'll get their day in court one day and be penalized for what they've done. In conclusion, I find it that state troopers unfairly use this law to get anybody they so choose from the pack of drivers on the road, the law itself cannot get all the drivers who break it, AND that no matter how this law is interpreted (through our perspective and the troopers), we have to obey it so we can help save lives for those heroes that are willing to protect us on our roadways.

My Life is a continued 'Work-In-Progress'

Last couple of months flew by so quick. And already, we're nearing the middle of 2011. So what have I done lately for myself? Pretty much putting everything aside. I gotta be honest here and admit that I haven't done a good job in changing things for the better. Whatever I said before, I've failed to set out and accomplish. It was more like words coming out of my mouth rather than following-up being attentive and fulfilling the actions. I take the criticism from anybody, whether they're close in my life or people that aren't as close. Because I failed - and failed greatly, their words echo in me. I have become lazy focusing more detail and attention towards social networking. And this is where to invest all of my time on during my days off spending time by myself. Where did my hunger go? I ask myself that question. What's holding me back? I ask myself that question, too. If I want to change for the better, where's the sense of motivation to get myself there? What if I don't like the lifestyle I have now? I ask myself why don't you focus on something you like more. Looks like there'll have to be some cutting back on some of the usual things I do in a day or even, as week. I'll have to keep pushing and pushing myself more to get better. I will have to hold back my fears and focus more on my strengths. Life is a continued 'Work-In-Progress.' But for how long will I take to change things for the better is solely up to me.

Thia Megia

The next filipino hype to make it BIG on Fox's American IDOL show is none other than 16-year old, Thia Megia from California. She previously let the public take note of her past performance on another show - America's Got Talent on NBC. And she was able to take it up a notch as one of this season's top finalists on American IDOL. She excelled greatly at what she could do every time she was on the spotlight and stage. There were times of struggles in which she failed to capitalize more of her strength and energy through her vocals. And she was harshly critiqued by IDOL judge Randy Jackson who seemed to always feel bored listening to her. Thia seemed to be on the defensive sometimes after that happens giving her own opinion - and that is so much to take for a humble, gracious, sometimes shey filipina. Through it all, she kept on and kept up avoiding some near-elimination moments. But there had to be an end for Thia, unfortunately. Like her past predecessors during the past IDOL, seasons, they've lasted in about the Top 5 or 10 positions, respectively. And last Thursday, her fate was decided by millions of voters. Thia was voted off in that direction, as well - falling short of the dream to become the next American IDOL. Thia wasn't alone as fellow contestant - Naima Adedapo, was also eliminated. However, it is good news for the two that they will be able to join the rest of their AI castmates for this year's summer tour, being it that both Naima and herself are two of the Top 11 finalists that made it ... Thia's future is still being written as we speak. Her IDOL days are near-to-over after she wraps up the tour this year. No telling where she will go from here - but her performances throughout the last couple of episodes show promise for long, continued success. It could very well start in the Philippines following the same footsteps like IDOL finalist Jasmine Trias, international singing sensation Lea Salonga and recently discovered talent, Charice Pempengco who was endorsed by media queen Oprah Winfrey. Thia did show some spark of the future as she was in an event helmed by songwriter and producer, David Foster. So, that can tell us she'll definitely wind up big. It's only a matter of time till the world hears Thia Megia sing once again and finally being able to get her record out.

Caught In a Facebook-related mess

Here I am posting things that spark my interest on Facebook. Next thing I know, a dude who I happened to know for a long time suddenly says to me that I'm becoming very repetitive with my profile's contents whether they are video blogs, jam-of-the-day music videos, or anything, for that matter. And oh yeah, he also criticized me for tagging some rising actor with just 3-4 pictures. And he's making it sound like I committed a huge sin! SO --- what he's technically saying to me is STOP IT. I know, I know. But you know what? I'll keep on what I'm doing. Doesn't matter what he or any of those so-called friends would think. If he can freely post where he's located every-hour-on-the-hour, his food pictures that got the-succulent-and-tasty-feel, or anything of the intellect, I must also be given the same privileges like anyone on Facebook should do. Because facebooking truly defines power to THE individual. Period. I don't care about what my stats can do to people. If they're tired of the materials I post or if it's sparks some spammage (if any), better for them to UNFRIEND me ... Just 2 weeks ago, I posted a note in which I expressed my views on the dude's remarks. I said it well and I don't have to copy or paste it here. It's meant to be read to my friends (and even the critics) in Facebookland and I'll leave it at that. Thanks to my supportive base out there. I really appreciated the love!

High gas prices

Those greedy oil tycoons and even the heads in the high authority of our wonderful nation will never understand the burdens of us everyday average people...no matter where we live, we all suffer. I used to live in Orlando, now I live in Chicago. It's the same thing everywhere. Prices expensive no matter where you are....AND already, we're struggling to keep everything together on everything else in this present economy.

Jaycee Badeaux of IDOL

SOOOOO...I'm an American Idol fan this season, go figure. LOL. Show's getting better. The focus are no longer on the crazy antics of the once-judges, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. It's better with Steven Tyler and J-Lo this time teaming up with Randy Jackson for Season 10.

The last few episodes, he was treated unfairly..I hated how a particular contestant (some dude in glasses now in the top 12 of guys) singled him out of the group in a group contest of IDOL. Jaycee was going through a lot of emotions and of course, it'd be hard for him to focus. I want him to be a wild card, definitely. The guy's got soul and a voice, rarely heard in music in such a long time. And for a kid his age - he's got it! To be honest with you, folks - and I know I'm gonna get some hate on this BUT, I think that maybe 2 or 3 of those guys that made it to the top 12 are not that any good...who knows, perhaps Jaycee doesn't need IDOL in this next round. A record company can be calling for him anytime. He'd be terrific on the gospel/christian sector... I salute you, Jaycee for being yourself out of that crowd and getting respect although the results weren't in your favor. Come back strong. Hope to see you in the limelight one day. You deserve your chance...I'll be rooting for mostly the ladies in this season of IDOL. Random Thought For Today (2/18/11)

After looking at Green Day's '97 music video for "Good Riddance" (The Time Of Your Life), doesn't it make you think about where you are now in your life? Looks that way to me. Makes me wanna stare straight for a minute or a few seconds like what's happening to the individuals shown there.

Dwight Howard

He's a great personality on-and-off the court. You gotta love the guy for who he is. He's a clean-cut role model for all that smiles and laughs a lot with his teammates and even his opponents. Sure, he's been the target lately for committing a lot of technical fouls (but not like the way Rasheed Wallace does..lol) and trade rumors, but nothing sways Dwight Howard. His eyes are on the prize and that's winning the NBA championship with his team - The Orlando Magic. I can't wait to see Superman do his thing again in a future game to see when I visit Orlando and the Magic's new place - The Amway Center. I'm sure he'll be around for a while. I feel optimistic for as long as the Magic management are committed to building a strong unit with Dwight. Go Magic! Go Superman! You're my favorite!

Florida Blog Flashback: 'Watching My First Magic Game at the O-rena'

April 9,2008 ORLANDO, FL - "From the view you see here in this digital photograph (taken from my cell phone's camera), this is what $38.00 could bring you. That's how much a co-worker/friend paid for my ticket. It was very nice of him to have one of my dreams come true: to watch a live Orlando Magic basketball game at the O-rena (a/k/a Amway Arena). Originally, I was planning to save up some of my money to watch some home games for the next season ... Describing the picture itself, this was before the start of the game between the Magic (led by 2008 Slam Dunk Champion - Dwight Howard) and the Bulls (which featured Florida Univ alum - Joakim Noah). All the players were on-hand doing their usual warm-ups and stretches. The experience itself was awesome as it was the first time in a long time that I've seen an NBA game live. The last moment was an NBA exhibition game in Norfolk, VA when Hampton native Allen Iverson and the 76ers faced Norfolk native Joe Smith and the Golden State Warriors in 1998 ... The game itself was a thrill! I finally get to see several three pointers, slam dunks, and off-balance layups happen right before my very eyes without the use of a high def television. The Magic started off slowly in the first quarter and then later gained a sizeable lead as the game was drawing to a close. Final score 115-83."

Thank goodness for Facebook!

Everyone that knows me up close and personal - definitely can tell how much I love 'facebooking.' Its a great online hobby to some, like in my situation. For others that aren't into the social networking hype altogether, it may be considered as a waste of time. I was actually one of hundreds, maybe millions of users that were once addicted to the MySpace hype a few years back. But I did mine's for a valid reason, not just because a waitress/server from Hooters suggested me and the fellas (my friends Ray & Jim) to go on there. My purpose and aim was clear: to find old friends from the past as well as connecting with family and relatives that I never knew I've had. At first, everything seemed so weird because of my familiarity and proficiency with MySpace. But then as time went on, I got so used to it. I was able to post anything and everything that crossed my mind from random thoughts to pictures to my home videos and YouTube JAM OF THE DAY segments. All my friends/family there bought into the hype that I was putting on my profile. The success continues to this very day as I am manifesting from one friend to another. Make that 323 I have as of right now. The numbers could dwindle. It may go up. It may go down. But there's always room to forge a friendship with anyone at any given time. And as all of that is happening, the end-result is that this blog page has remained stationary over a course of time. There isn't that much activity going on here and I failed on my promise to hype up Jonnyroobs Central furthermore. So, it looks like I will do what I can (but it can't be a guarantee) to balance my time between blogging, tweeting, and facebooking. That sure is a lot of internet activity, isn't it? If done right, it'll allot time to do other things than just being on the computer. I can concentrate more on my offline life. Anyways, I shall get going out of this blog post and check out my Facebook posts now. Catch you all later!

First epic blizzard storm of 2011 lives up to the hype!

Sure was a big one last night! ... I was able to document some of this event on my YouTube channel filming video bits 1,2 and 3 out on my apartment's balcony. The conditions didn't seem to be as worse where we are in Aurora, IL (as many residents preferred to stay indoors when the blizzard ushered it's way through from the late afternoon to the late evening hours). However, it's a different story in Downtown Chicago. They had it bad. Several cars had to be abandoned on the famous Lake Shore Drive. Pieces of Wrigley Field's roof went down. Pedestrians were swept by 50+ mph winds. There was even a thunder and lightning show included. Feels like something out of movie, huh - say, uh - 'The Day After Tomorrow.' But it wasn't nothing of catastrophic proportions, thank goodness. Lives were spared (except for one that was lost at the Lake Michigan area). We all woke up to seeing more than a foot of snow outdoors. There were adults shoveling the snow away and the kids are enjoying their moments having snowball fights or making snow angels. And of course, the cleaning crew taking care of the roadways. I'm happy to know most of my friends and co-workers were safe from harm's way. It was good to see them document their photo & video highlights respectively on Facebook. It will take a while for everything to get back to normal ... Do I sense an early Spring happening as we rely on the prediction of a 125 yr old Groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil? Here's hoping he's right on the money. I really want Old Man Winter outta here and enjoy Chicago for what it is!

Blog Written From Inside The Jet Plane ... Vacation over!

Spending New Year's Day w/ Virginia friends at Gina & Marfel's home

I am writing this post while riding the Southwest jet at about an altitude of between 5,000 - 10,000 feet. It doesn't seem so high from how it looks here on the window. My girlfriend Rizz and I are heading back to Chicago after spending 10 days of our holiday vacation in Virginia Beach/ Norfolk. The trip's highlights lagged in the beginning because of a big snow storm event that paralyzed the east coast for a few days, especially for wary travelers at airports and for regular commuters driving to work, school, etc. Even though the weather outside was frightful (as the saying goes in the 'Let It Snow' Christmas song), we managed to enjoy the comfort of being indoors in the home and chatting with my folks while we watched some TV ... It was good being at home for a while but then it became frustrating. I started to get cabin fever. I couldn't just stay put and not go anywhere with all the time we have left with this vacation. Thanks to my brother, Jay & my former boss and good friend, Emer, we managed to pick up the pace with our plans. Emer's help was certainly a plus. He actually loaned us his car to commute throughout the area. As the days were soon to be outnumbered, I hastened to get this going so we can meet a lot of friends and family. There was plenty of food to eat wherever we went and the get-togethers were planned so spontaneously and last minute, especially when New Year's was about to take place. First, Emer took us to the buffet restaurant to meet with his pals Cheryl and Julius. We sang karaoke in a reserved area. Though we were in little numbers, we managed to keep up with the fun killing song after song. And then there was another event that was quite memorable, too. It all started with a brief conversation between Gina and myself. Gina was very nice enough to get something spectacular going on our last Saturday night in Virginia. We both planned the gathering by-ear depending on whether she would have to work, or not (as she is on-call). The event ultimately was a success and we were able to get at least almost between 5 and 10 people there. Seeing everyone interact definitely put a smile to my face. There were no distractions. No music. No TV. Just a random conversation going on with everyone. But of course, the conclusion had to close out with a bang! So it did. We all sang karaoke for about 3 hours or so, lasting to the morning hour of 3AM. My friend Jim was really so into it like I've never seen him before. He actually sang the songs the way it ought to be heard - and not making up his own lyrics like most of us have gotten out of him in the past... Before all of these get-togethers, there was something spectacular to add to the highlight reel. Jayson took us all the way to Pungo in Virginia Beach and let us participate in shooting lessons at the C2 Shooting Center. We used his AR-15 rifle to shoot the paper targets that were about 25 - 30 yds away. For starters, Rizz and I were impressive. We were able to hit the bullseye and its surrounding areas. We totally rocked that day. Jayson was proud of us ... Lastly, Emer took us to the Red Ribbon bakery that just recently opened to the public. Amidst the news of long lines, we've decided to give it a go and head over there. Each of us had Halo-Halo and a piece of cake (in which I don't remember from the top of my head.) It was definitely a great milestone being there for the first time and seeing all this hype unfold. The only inconvenience was of course the dreaded long lines and the lack of seats available (in which people were just about finished with their food, yet they never left). Oh well. We took our desserts to Emer's office instead. From then on, he took us to the airport so we can catch up with our flight on-time. And this leads to where I am now: in the Southwest jet ... Documenting video clips and pictures through my Blackberry Curve was a breakthrough indeed. Usually, I use separate gadgets to do each task (such as that of my Canon digital camera & Flip video camera). And with those mentioned, I seldom used them. It was all Blackberry from there. From the shooting range to the gatherings, the device captured great moments on a tiny little Micro SD card that could keep data for up to 4MB. These media files were uploaded to social communities online such as Facebook and Twitter. I can always relive each highlight to the fullest ... However, I have to say this. The biggest highlight doesn't have to be documented on film or through pictures. It was something worthy to live each day for - and that's reuniting with my family. And having Rizz around was a great blessing, too. She's my inspiration.

Snowed-In During First Half of VA Holiday Visit...but...it's ok

Despite the big snow storm that happened on Christmas night, Rizz and I were able to enjoy the comfort of being home with loved ones, eating plenty of food, as well as catching up on week 16 NFL games and NBA Christmas double-header games. We even had our presents open in the middle of Christmas Day. So it wasn't bad staying home after all even though the weather outside was indeed frightful. However, it did scale back our plans on going everywhere. Hopefully by Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, our adventure will take us furthermore - and that the snow should melt by then. I'm ready for the 2nd half of this holiday vacation. The 1st half is done and so is staying put at home. No snow is forecasted in the days ahead and that the temps are going to increase to a high of at least 60 by this Friday. So here's to more good times ahead with the days we have left in this holiday vacation in Hampton Roads, VA.

Here we go! It's V-A we go for the holidays!

Tomorrow, me and Rizz are headed for Virginia. The 757. Hampton Roads Area. I'm looking forward to being surrounded by loved ones that consist of my parents, brothers, relatives, and of course, my closest circle of friends - for the holiday season. I'm not exactly sure what's in store for the next few days we'll be there, but we're definitely gonna enjoy every moment of it as it comes .... The excitement just started to build up as we just got out of work and now it's like 3:32am in the morning. In about 4 hours or so, I'm gonna reserve space for me and her on the Southwest Airlines flights bound for Baltimore and Norfolk. Then, we'll start packing in order to prepare for tomorrow's departure out of Midway.

Period of Transition

After months of being in someone's home in Joliet, me & my gf have left and went on to get our a place of our own right in Aurora, thanks in part to our wonderful real estate agent, Steve B. We feel truly blessed to go about with this period of transition (in which it occurred from the last week of October to the first week of November). Getting stuff for the home doesn't come cheap, even if it has to be shopping at Wal-Mart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Homegoods, and A.J. Wright. Put all of that together, that's a lot of expenses amassed. Oh, and include Best Buy on that list too since I've just an 40" Samsung LED TV (in which watching the Blu ray movies on 120Hz is so friggin' awesome!)... Yeah, we've been busy trying to plan this all out. And yep, that explains as to why I haven't blogged in such a long time either (despite the continuity to tweet via Twitter and update my latest status via Facebook) ... Speaking of Facebook, I was able to show photos of our humble abode to family and limited friends, in a VIP kind-of-way (LOL). There, they will see our furniture, appliances and my crazy collection of clothing/shoes from the closet. Soon, I plan to get a video clip of myself in the apartment showing around to my close pals and my bro ... For the moment, we will rejoice the privacy, the luxury and the 'feel' of a good home here in lovely Aurora.

I'm 36 years old today...

Happy Birthday to me! I've just turned 36! Here's to more good times ahead and succeeding in my goals, as well. And what's even more cooler than cool --- I get to spend my birthday in another state. There was Virginia, Florida - and now Illinois, of all places. The pages of my life continue as a new chapter starts yet again. Thank God for giving me another day to live and see another milestone. For every birthday that comes is an amazing blessing given from Him.

Traveling everywhere within Illinois and beyond!

I work a lot these days. And my position has doubled as I have now became a company driver in my job. I was loaned a van as well as a gas card to go along with that. So with that in mind, my assignments start to vary in numbers, as well as locations. Whether it's transporting personnel or sending important documents over, I am on the road. I have been traveling everywhere within Illinois as well as beyond (Wisconsin, so far). I'm still learning all my routes as I rely on my Garmin Nuvi GPS to get me around the area without any problems. (Then again, I could stumble into a problem especially if the mapping needs updating...LOL.) By the way, I have done a few clips on Twitvid lately while I was on my Wisconsin errand w/ the van. How totally cool is that, huh :) Then again, there was a descepancy on the highway while heading back to Illinois on I-294 and that was the tractor trailers blocking my way. BAH!

Joliet, in general.

Not too many people have heard about Joliet, that's unless if you're a NASCAR fan or are into racing. Well, it's a nice town with a lot of hard-working people. Downtown seems to look very vintage. They have a trainstation and a nice park nearby. In the suburbs, there are homes everywhere left and right. There's not that much basketball courts either. I guess that explains as to why a lot of kids love playing b-ball at their home's driveway. There's a decent mall, too, that I frequent. But I mostly like going to Best Buy adjacent to it - OR go to Officemax, Old Navy, Target and even MC Sports right across the street. And oh yes, there are cornfields wherever you go. That's the midwest you know. People here like to get involved with athletics whether you're an adult and like to go golfing OR if you're a kid, you can go for soccer or softball/baseball. There's a park here near our place that does either or. Plus that same park can hold a LIVE event such as that from performers like Rick Springfield from last May to Brett Michaels (of Poison) just recently in early September....Looking at all of Joliet now, I think it is way better than my old stomping grounds of Norfolk, VA and is equivalent to Virginia Beach for places to check out :-)

2 Dogs, 3 Cats Love Us :-)

It's amazing how we can receive the love from 2 dogs and 4 cats who are presently living in the home that me and my gf are staying in. The dogs' names are Dakota and Charis (I guess that's how her name is spelled) both of which are beagles. The cats' names are Kit, Belvedere, Miles, and Chewie (Note: there was one before but he passed away too soon. His name was Juan Pablo). They are so friendly and they really make our day great once me and my gf come home after a long day of working especially during odd hours. Its funny how Dakota waits right at the window as if she's a security guard of the home. And once we enter the door, she'd jump and lick on us....All these animals need is the love and affection. They get it, too. And if they need anything (such as food or water), they know that my gf and I will be there to give them some more of those.

I own two computers - WHY?

I came up with the idea on wanting 2 computers - one a netbook (in which I am typing this from) & an all-in-one desktop PC. Each has their own thing. I want the netbook solely just to use the internet in all its glory and the PC to handle most of the multimedia duties such as the iPod, video editing, video streaming, and Photoshop work. Its a very big investment indeed but I think it's a wise move considering that it brings peace of mind for me... I love taking this netbook everywhere from a home to a public library to Panera Bread or even to Barnes & Noble. Any Wi-Fi hotspot, really. It gives me the total satisfaction that I can post a blog entry like this from anywhere, with ease and comfort. The netbook would be a best friend to me everywhere I go... And I love working on stuff at home with the PC. It gives me the chance to work on things extensively at home that require more time. That's a perfect balance on everything. And now you know why I own two computers and bought them at the same time, from Best Buy.

Twiddeo & Twitlonger, here I come!

More fun times ahead besides the blog postings (and soon-to-be renovations to the layout of this blog page). I am going to be doing Twiddeo segments (that's like, videos via Twitter). This is gonna be a series of videos that I will make with my FLIP ultra cam, none of which are going to air on my YouTube channels or on Facebook. It'll be exclusively appearing on Twiddeo and nowhere else. What you'll see is a few video tidbits on what's going on around me here in the surrounding Chicago areas. This'll give the chance for the viewers to see it all. I wanna show people small towns, cornfields, watertowers or even tornadoes (if I am lucky to be alive on that one..lol)...As for Twitlonger, it'll just be a blog, but only made available on Twitter. It's gonna exceed the 140+ characters that always tend to condense what I wanna say there. So that's where Twitlonger comes in. It'll give me the freedom to express things in over those 140+ characters. FUN IS COMING! Stay tuned, everyone.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr is a racist ... and he proved that!

The most cockiest boxer in this day and age proved to the whole world that he is, in fact, a racist, not just to the filipinos around the world and to boxing fans alike, BUT to the whole human population as a whole.....I will not quote with what he said about his rival Manny Pacquiao, but his words were so insulting and fueled with hate. Very degrading, to say the least. And his ignorance just skyrocketed. Then, the next day he puts an insincere apology like he was playing it off, too. Shame on Mayweather, Jr. for putting on such a show to YouTube users....The NaFFAA (National Federation of Filipino American Association) finally stepped up to the plate giving their remarks on Mayweather's quotes. And the NAACP remains invisible. So is, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. They won't step into this thing because their victim isn't one of their own. Most likely, they will not step in for Manny Pacquiao or the filipino-americans in this country....I'm sorry to say this, but racism can come from different avenues whether you're white, black, asian, filipino, etc. There are no winners in this. We can fall victim to it at anytime.

What are my favorite sports teams? It's not what you may think.

Just because I live here in the surrounding Chicago areas doesn't mean I will go automatic for most of the sports teams here. It's not what one may think. So, to clarify it for you, guys, this is the line-up. And I also have my 2nd choices included.

It's time to make blogging fun again!

I've been out of the blogging thing for quite a while now. Sorry for the delays. The real-world is such a busy thing, really. I've found something inspiring. My friend decided to make her blog on her marriage. And as for me, I'm gonna try to add some interesting elements for each post that I'll create. It's time to make blogging fun again. So that's gonna be a start. I'll also try to renovate the feel-and-look of this blog page. It's long overdue. Things must change.

To Virginia -- AND back to Illinois!

The last few weeks have been a break period for me. It gave me the chance to assess over things seeing how one scenario can differ from that of the existing lifestyle I already have. I had to decide if I wanted to go back to Virginia and continue with life there. It was also the opportunity to catch up on old times with fellow family members and loyal friends. And it all begins with 17 plus hours going out of Illinois. I never knew I could pull such a feat like that after drinking one bottle of Pepsi Throwback. Shockingly enough, I realized I never slept. I just kept driving the Civic all the way to its destination: Virginia Beach. Driving back home caught my dad's attention by surprise. He saw my Civic w/ it's Illinois tags going up the driveway. It was great to receive a wonderful hug from dad. And then from mom when she came home from work. It was also good to chat alongside my wonderful brothers Jay and Jeff. As time stretched along, I was missing out on the great atmosphere of IL, including those that I have already affiliated myself with, including co-workers and my girlfriend, too. I was watching ESPN too seeing the White Sox struggle against their rivals, the Minnesota Twins. And it was disappointing to see 'em go down like that. Inside of me, I felt I wanted to go forth in continuing the life in Illinois. Seems that Virginia is okay, but I think its best to be in Illinois for the time being. It gives me a chance to grow personally, professionally and spiritually as a person. It also gives me the opportunity to be the best boyfriend to my girlfriend because she really deserves nothing but the best out of her man. Plus, I like to develop my friendships to the people out there. Perhaps I'll find ones that are trustworthy and decent such as Jimmy and Ray (my friends for well over 10+ years now). So I had to leave once again and head back. Make that another 17+ hours of driving. Once again, I wasn't tired. One thing changed, however. No Pepsi Throwback here. I had a chicken tenders meal from Hardees, a bottle of Mountain Dew Code Red, a bag of Lays potato chips, a caramel frap from Starbucks and lastly, the big breakfast deluxe in McDonald's. Going back felt like forever and thank God He gave me the strength to make it. The best reward is giving a big hug to my girlfriend. I love her so much. So now begins the next chapter of life in Illinois. It's sure to be better than the previous one :-)

1 Thessalonians 1:1-10

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of the letter of Paul to the Thessalonians was to encourage the believers to stay faithful, to stay strong, and to hang in there. It talks a lot about problems and the struggles of life; it talks about the blessed hope, the second coming of Christ; and it talks about how to build a life that is pleasing to God, and life that is sturdy and dependable - like a rock.

We will look at principles on how to build a strong character. The first step is choosing the right influences for yourself. It's in deciding on who you're going to be like, whose example you're going to follow.

So we'll talk today about what to look for in a good influence.

Here are three things:

1. Look for those who genuinely care about you. Verse 2; See 2:19., 3:9

2. Look for those who can lead with authenticity. Verse 5

3. Look for those who know how to keep their ego in check. See 2: 3-6; Galatians 1:10

CONCLUSION

The Thessalonicans not only followed the example of Paul, Silas, and Timothy. They also became an example for the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.

The whole world was talking about this church in Thessalonica that had turned their back on their idols and their pagan worship and had become devoted followers of Jesus Christ - followers who had endured all kinds of persecution, and had remained faithful to the gospel.

They became an example to believers throughout the world, because they knew whose example to follow. This is step one in developing character.
