My 'Lola' going blind?

'Lola' (meaning "grandma" in Filipino) mentioned this to me a few months ago during a telephone conversation. She wants to see me before she'll go blind in the times to come. It pains me to hear of the news that this is happening to her. I can only imagine being 'in her shoes' facing this bad news. I hope that there is still time to see her before this may get eventually even worse. My mom is currently working on the effort in trying to find an eye care specialist that is around or closest to the Pangasinan area of the Philippines ... 'Lola' has been blessed for most of her years, especially during her few years stay in the U.S. during the early to late 1990s. She still remains very active for her age (in her early 80s now). She continues to go forth with her passion of gardening vegetables around the home. And her voice hasn't slowed down one bit, although it seems now that her hearing is being affected slightly. I question the 'hearing' part, however. Sometimes phone calls to the Philippines do have audio problems on top of the many failed attempts we try to reach our loved ones there. I'm sure many of us filipinos can relate to that part .... I hope that I will be given an opportunity in the near-future to visit my relatives there, especially 'Lola.' Right now, I'm working on my plan in trying to find a lucrative career, good enough to make me earn a decent income - and spend a small portion of that for a 3-week trip to the Philippines. Whatever consequences she is going to face, 'Lola' will know that I am around when I am finally there by way of my voice and when I'll touch her hand, or even give her a warm hug:)
