Three years ago, I bought my first Garmin nuvi GPS (200 series) from a Best Buy store in the Osceola County area of Orlando, Florida. It was a simple, easy-to-use navigational gadget which helped me travel from Point A to Point B - and back. And in later months and years, it helped me with travels from Florida to Virginia and from Virginia to Illinois. There were minimal errors in its mappings but as soon as I went to live in Illinois, it really needed a major update. I was able to deal with it for a while until I realized that the simulated image of the car looked like it was flying to incomplete routes on the GPS screen. That wasn't just the worst of it. The cable that helped charge the nuvi 200 to my vehicle was apparently damaged. With that happening, the unit couldn't charge troublefree anymore. It was charging and then it wasn't. The situation itself was annoying. Of all that I've mentioned, I realized that it was time to finally get a newly updated version of the nuvi. So I looked to Best Buy's website online and found a nuvi in particular that I want. It is another nuvi - the LM 1300. The price was affordable at about $108.00 and it has everything that I wished for.

Let's break it down here:
- FREE Lifetime Map Updates (up to 4 times a year). If I had to update my old Garmin nuvi 200 device once, it would cost me between ($75-90). So buying a new GPS would entirely make perfect sense.
- Speaks street names and interstate numbers. The Garmin nuvi 200 only mentioned turning left and right. Again, this is why buying a new GPS makes perfect sense once again. Most recent Garmin GPS models have this feature now.
- GPS can be used for either vehicle or pedestrian use. Now one can know how many minutes he/she can get there either walking or driving to a destination.
- Widescreen. Gotta love Widescreen!
- Great features (I totally dig the Australian-accented lady's voice heard on my LM1300)

I definitely went a major step-up after purchasing the LM 1300. I look forward to it being with me on the long run, including lengthy trips and driving in different states. So far, it's benefiting me when it comes to dealing with routes associated to my work's assigned locations. I have no regrets at all in buying a new Garmin nuvi. The timing couldn't be better, right? Right!

In less than 60 days from now, vacation is gonna happen! I am so stoked right now just thinking about it. Imagine that - Virginia and Orlando for 2 weeks! Perfect time for us especially when we wanna get out of winter's path for a while....For those 2 weeks, I wanna enjoy the time well spent and taking ourselves some place for a change. Maybe then, the Orlando Magic (still) featuring Dwight Howard will be playing b-ball vs their opponents in the Amway Center. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one!!!

To all my avid readers: I have to apologize for not being active lately with my postings. It's been busy the last couple of days/ weeks with work as well as things going on during my personal time. That also means having only limited time allowance for myself and doing my usual activities such as blogging ... I will do the best I can to deliver. Looks like the digital spirit of multimedia guru Steve Jobs is rooting me on from within in order for me to get my creative juices flowing again artistically. You know, I haven't done much lately in that aspect with only a little touch of my artistic flavor here-and-there, especially collaborating on a pencil drawing of Michael Jackson with my best friend and brother, Jeff. The last time I was actively into my artistic prowess was creating 24x36 photo collages for my family and friends back in my days in Virginia, as well as getting into the groove of webpage designing. But I left most of that magic behind because of the influences of every day work, especially at this present point in time here in Illinois. But what if I was to get back into my lifelong passion of art? I know it's a hefty expense/investment to do such a craft BUT wow, won't it be great to do something I love doing since childhood? First it was the drawings and paintings as it started from there. And now I want to branch my skills onto the next step in the arts: digital photography. Close friends have said I got a knack of taking good pics with a basic digital camera and wondering if I could take it further by getting into it as a profession. That would be cool to take it as a means to get residual income like most of what my photo genius friends are doing these days, either as a full-time or part-time occupation. They're making money doing what they love to do. And I want to embrace the same opportunity one of these days. Imagine taking the brand-name and trademark 'Jonnyroobs' to the next level. That would rock. I really appreciated all the input and advice that they have given to me and are looking to see what I can show to them in the future. If I were to start this venture, I will have to move back to my stomping grounds in Virginia or Florida. That's the direction I want this to go, if God willing it'll happen ... I can't be doing the same dull, lifeless, passionless thing forever that takes most of my day and time. Something's got to give. Good days are ahead. I just know it. In the near future, I will start getting that wholesomeness of loving life to the fullest and passionately get into my artistic groove again. Just a matter of time till I get into digital photography whether its starting small doing freelance or part-time into something utterly spectacular! Look out, world!

Yesterday was a wonderful day spent with Rizz's family and relatives. We started it off by heading over to Jonamac Orchard in a small rural town of Malta, IL for apple-picking activities. Lots of people were on-hand to participate. It was a fun experience having done this the first time with them especially for myself. Through our apple-picking adventures, there were a couple of photographs taken, including the one you see now above this latest blog. We later proceeded to a park in Batavia for a family picnic.

Here is exclusive You Tube video (via the JonnyroobsTV channel) that I made today while visiting the Chicago History Museum located in the heart of Downtown Chicago. Lots of good artifacts and exhibits as you can see, but here's the interesting thing: it's rumored that there are some apparitions roaming there at night (as I have mentioned in an earlier blog posting). But so far, there was nothing of the supernatural or anything ghoulish that appeared before me. However, who knows what kind of feedback this video may have in terms of visuals or audio sounds that might comes from that of ghosts. I sensed nothing that day, but you just may never know if it ever turns out to be like an episode of 'Ghost Adventures' on the Travel Channel. They get all that weird stuff. I hope mine's doesn't with this 17-minute presentation....With the ghosts that lurk, I guess they still can't let go of their sole possessions. As for the ghost of Abe Lincoln, that's a different story. You see, his deathbed (a small deathbed, that is) is actually encased in a glass. I never knew that it would ever end up in the Chicago History Museum...I do not appear as an apparition (LOL) but I do show myself in my red Buccaneers sweater and my Puma gear/kicks. And so Ozzie Guillen has left Chicago and the White Sox organization to make way for his new home in Miami, Florida and the newly-named Miami Marlins (p/k/a Florida Marlins). I am happy for him that he found his moment of peace (for the time being because it's no telling when exactly he'll blow up at the media again BUT it's gonna happen). No telling how he'd fare managing-wise with the Marlins because he just had a mediocre season with the White Sox. However, I do  think that the location will make a difference to him  as there are more sunny, warmer days in South Beach than the changing-of-the-seasons happening here in Chicago (maybe that explains him being mad so much..could it be? Probably not. LOL)...I don't think he'll receive much of a great reception if ever him and his new ballclub visit the White Sox. Then again, it could be a mixture of cheers and jeers, depending on how the fans see fit. But I think he left a valid, respectable milestone that should be best remembered because after all, he and the Sox won the World Series back in 2005 ... Glad to know Ozzie is still in the world of baseball. It's something he loves and has passion for. And when he speaks out (even when we may not understand him most of the time), we know he's into it.

Me and the inventory team (spearheaded by Rizz) went to the Chicago History Museum yesterday afternoon for an assignment. I never gotten to know much of what was inside the facility (until me and my co-worker Ninh decided to take a chance at it 5 minutes before the museum closed). I didn't see much really. There was the low-rider car given by the Amistad Car Club, a passenger car from a train, and Scottie Pippen's #33 Bulls jersey w/ sneakers. I had to end the moment of roaming around since work was about to start and that the museum was closing...That wasn't the interesting part. It was the end actually. Workers there talk about ghosts that are wandering around still yearning for their possessions (not willing to let go of those). The employee told me to keep looking straight as me and Ninh followed him around the facility like as if it was a maze. Another employee told me that Lincoln's ghost is rumored to lurk in the basement area too since his deathbed is inside ... From my own personal account and observations, I didn't see a lost soul there nor did I feel a cold touch, but by hearing what the workers had said, I believe them. Things have been moved around off-and-on and they speculate the actions have been from that of a ghostly spirit ... Looks like this story has to continue at some point. I plan on making a future visit, perhaps tomorrow on my 37th birthday. Maybe then shall I see an apparition-of-sorts. Maybe not since this won't be a late evening thing like last night. We shall see, folks. Just in time for Halloween. LOL.

For the last few days, me and Rizz have been watching the complete STAR WARS Saga on Blu ray. We're done with five films so far except for 'RETURN OF THE JEDI' which we still have to watch. The amazing crisp, clear high-definition quality is amazing given the Lucasfilm restoration treatment which also includes some of their own bells and whistles added later (i.e. Darth's 'Nooooo' and Ewoks eyes-blinking in JEDI, Yoda's CGI-enhanced look in PHANTOM MENACE, Luke's lightsaber corrected and Ben Kenobi's shriek sound to the Tuskens in A NEW HOPE, etc.).......However, despite some of the great things given, the fact still remains that the original trilogy is still way better and superior to the new trilogy (a/k/a the prequel). Characters that we come to appreciate (such as Han, Leia, Luke, Chewbacca, Threepio, R2-D2, Ben, etc.), some cheesy quotes yet simple dialogue, and a less-noisy story/plot is all that was needed. And the CGI was conservative as well not being heavily relied on (until worked on later as Special Edition) The prequel tried so hard to captivate these elements but it really failed to deliver. Jar Jar Binks was supposed to be loved, but received a hate-following instead. Characters were a bore (sadly to say it, but its true ---- and NO I am mindful of this as my thoughts are not betraying me on this one. LOL) and Anakin was annoying from childhood-to-adulthood. The dialogue was kinda difficult (yet boring) to understand especially for the kids out there watching who don't understand all the talk of diplomacy, trade, negotiations, veto, etc. (yawn).  Who really cares, right? And the budding romance between Padme and Anakin was like watching an N-Sync or Backstreet Boys 90s music video. For a moment, I thought that Justin Timberlake was Anakin (LOL). The CGI was an improvement (but it still tacks off on the realism from the original trilogy). Only thing I liked really that was as real as it got was Naboo. So natural, so refreshing-----ahhhhh. Looks like nothing there looked CGI. If only Lucasfilm balanced on the CGI a bit, perhaps things'll look more realistic. The SITH movie was the best one from all of the prequels and redeemed me from calling the whole prequel a 'SUCKY' trilogy. Things there seem to connect fittingly to A NEW HOPE. And the big battle between Obi-Wan and Anakin reeked awesomeness. I just couldn't wait for Anakin to turn out burnt bald like he did in the future. Only thing that still annoyed me was Anakin's anger. Hasn't that jerk learned to be what an ideal Jedi should be? I guess not. LOL .... In conclusion, I'll take the whole entire Star Wars saga with a grain of salt. I don't mind the improvements later added by Lucasfilm though it will raise a lot of eyebrows on the hardcore Star Wars purists, geeks, enthusiasts out there who still worship the original trilogy (sans most of the CGI technological enhancements). You guys gotta get understand that it's George Lucas's films in the first place, not ours - and for as long as he lives, he can do anything he wants with the Star Wars universe. I stand 100% behind the master although I didn't liked his prequels that much. But I am proud to say I DO like the Star Wars films overall and so happy to add them to my ever-growing Blu Ray collection. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH ALL OF US.

So week 3 has passed in the NFL and how is my favorite team (the Buccaneers) doing? I think they are boding well with a 2-1 record. However, they still show struggle offensively resulting in a low-scoring win. They haven't yet exposed most of their offense as a legitimate threat with the exception of RB LeGarrette Blount's powerhouse running. Josh Freeman's interception at the end zone was reckless as it could've been an easy TD. Perhaps the score would've ended up slightly higher had a Bucs' WR got it instead. Freeman redeemed himself going at the end zone himself for a TD on a later play. And to celebrate that, he did his 'dirty bird' dance. Very uncharacteristic of the humble QB, but I'm sure he was really getting sike'd up!!!! LOL. On the defensive side of things - oh yes - they are for REAL! Big improvement from last week as they really stuffed it to their rival (Atlanta Falcons) especially on QB Matt Ryan who was taking most of the brunt. Here's hoping the Bucs continue to work on their weaknesses and forge on ahead with more victories. I'll give my take on things in about 2-3 weeks from now.

440am in the morning. Temperatures seem to bode well for the fall season as it was tipping near 50 degrees. Just got out of the condo tower to do some grocery shopping. But there was a skunk nearby the door as I exited. It went away but thank goodness it didn't unleashed it's foul odor. I hope it understood I was there to go to my Civic and drive off ... I love doing grocery shopping either later in the evening or early morning. No traffic from all angles - the highway, the parking lot, and inside Woodman's grocery store. Got what I wanted in less than an hour. Next thing I know, I'm back home safe and sound.

Today is the last episode of ALL MY CHILDREN, after 41 years on-the-air. Feels like the best friend in the whole wide world is bidding bye bye to all of us who have stuck with it since. I haven't watched AMC since the late 90s, but there were some times that I kept tuning in. As it started drawing to a close, I watched every episode from my DVR. I'm gonna miss the values it instills and the magic that every actor brings in the characters they portray ... I must say my feelings are mixed because the ending wasn't what I expected it to be. It just made me ask for more questions leading up to the cliffhanger involving the JR character (played by Jacob Young, who always gives out his all-out brilliantness as the always-mad, always-angry son of Adam Chandler)...I'm so bummed out now that it's finally off from ABC, as its being replaced by a NEW home/cooking show called THE CHEW. I hope that don't last long. It probably won't anyways ... But back to AMC, it's to be given a new life from Prospect Park, who bought the show along with OLTL (One Life To Live). Most likely it won't be the same with most of the regulars, but I'd give it a try. Better than nothing, right? Cheers to all the actors and behind-the-scene crew that made AMC what it was and what it'll be remembered for. And thanks to one Walt Willey (playing Jackson Montgomery) who was able to send me e-mail messages in-between his plans back in the late-90s. Maybe one of these days, I'll see him doing his comedy thing in Ottawa, IL (his hometown).

Regarding the co-workers at the job, they are divas. They're demanding and choose when they wanna work while people like me & others work their hardest with all the energy, all the focus (even how tiresome it is) from beginning to the end of an assignment. Even my superiors have to deal with this situation and I feel so much what they're going through. Shame on those workers for not making themselves avail while others suffer..Tell you what though -, these lazy folks wallow in self-pity wondering where the opportunity & money went on their paycheck...smh (scratching my head)....What you get on your check is what you get - period!

Never thought I'd face it again BUT it happened yesterday and the day after. Me, Rizz and the crew worked an inventory at a Victoria's Secret store almost a whole 24 hours (from 12PM to 10:30AM the next day) with an additional 30 minutes of lunch and two 15 minute breaks. We counted everything - bras, panties, thongs, etc. My body feels like it went through a lot especially stretching my left lower back which is always in pain (note to self: don't carry big boxes anymore, ok buddy? lol). And my eyes appeared glassy, too. However, it wasn't bloodshot red as I thought. I'm grateful that we all made decent money good enough to take care of our needs and expenses. It was a long, grueling day for many and the day may have not been perfect for some, but we got out of there doing what we could to fulfill the company's objectives......Boy am I tired! I can still feel my skin being so hot. I hope that's normal. Must be a burnout effect. I'm gonna go get my much deserved nap before I cook our meal for tonight. Another note to self: Consider a career change. It might be time to do the data-entry/clerical thing again like in years' past :)

In rememberance to the heroes and victims of 9/11 (in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, DC) ... Ten years have passed. We will always have you in our hearts.

I'm watching the Saints/Packers game right now on NBC. Packers are killing 'em. It's good football is back on the TV tube. I look forward to a jubilant season, especially for my favorite team: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I know Coach Morris assembled a great squad consisting again of the youth movement. But wow, this IS the football season that almost wasn't. Imagine if it never worked out. Better yet, let's not even think about it. Football is back. It's time for us to root for our teams at home, at a sports bar, at a sports store -- who knows, Times Square, if anyone's lucky enough to catch it there (lol) .... For now, we'll watch everything in its glory, even the outrageous drama that'll build during the season right up to the Super Bowl.

I had a 2nd job as of Sunday (before Labor Day), but the next day, I decided to call it quits. Sounds crazy, but believe me, it was for the right intentions. I was employed exclusively by a major shoe company that sponsors some of the biggest names in sports including one iconic, now-retired basketball star from Chicago (you know who...LOL). My job was working as an associate that deals with stocking and replenishing items in the store. Great job duties and everything seems so fast pace. Next thing I know, I'm like, 'I'm in a break now?' I should've gotten myself a watch because I can't have my Blackberry on the sales floor. The co-workers are all great and friendly. However, that night would turn out to be my last, unfortunately. Looks like my hours from my 1st job didn't work out well with the store's. It just conflicted. I did notify the manager during the screening interview that I would be available after 2 weeks time, but I guess they were desperate for good workers out there. I can only assume they got rid of employees who just didn't value the company's goals and vision. I got nothing to complain about this company and their goals. It's a good job, especially if one wants to burn calories and be on-the-go every hour/ on the hour. But man, it would've been great if everything flowed together (in regards to the scheduling between the two jobs). I really would've loved to have kept the job opportunity. I guess I'll have to check out for more in the upcoming times ahead, but probably not on the retail sector. Maybe working in a temp job at an office environment would suffice. Gotta start sending out copies of my resume before the year ends. I can't be doing the same thing forever. It's time to step up and get out of this latest setback because of my scheduling. As the saying goes, 'Good Things comes to those who wait.'

Lee Roy Selmon (1954-2011)
The NFL has lost a living legend. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost their '95 Hall-of-Fame inductee and first-ever draft pick to make it to the then-expansion franchise. The Tampa Bay community lost someone who meant a lot to them, from restaurant entrepreneur to various charity work. Lee Roy Selmon exemplified greatness beyond his 9 years with the Buccaneers, He simply went forth in reaching out to the people as a great human being. In the 56 years he lived, he fulfilled his mission. And now it's time for God to call him up to heaven ... Regarding the cementing of his legacy, Selmon will forever be immortalized as one of the many NFL greats that made the league what it is today. That part right there is 'football heaven.' He earned that one. The Bucs certainly will have him in their hearts come regular season. They'll win for Lee Roy :)

Rest in peace to my boss' parents' dog Harley who passed away last night. Such a great dog he was. Well behaved, loyal and loved to be petted. It's gonna be different when I visit their place again. Harley will leave a huge void, especially when it comes to easy company.

Happy Birthday to the King of Pop who would've been 53 years old today. The long lasting image of Michael Jackson will forever remain youthful to most of our eyes. His songs still continue to touch the many generations this very day.

Wouldn't it be cool to see a Turbo, Ozone and Special K reunion along with a fresh cast for a totally brand-new BREAKIN' flick for the next generation? In the midst of reboots, its obvious Hollywood execs won't go with this. Glad they didn't. Let it stay that way - untouched. BREAKIN' and BREAKIN' 2 were one of many films that defined the 80s for what it was.

Through Hurricane Irene news coverage in Hampton Roads, VA, we can also find sense of humor. I saw one that had the Weather Channel guy in the Oceanfront talking about the wind gusts - and then right behind him are some random guys running, one of which is actually streaking. Yes, he showed everything! Crazy, huh ... And then there's another footage (this time, it's family friendly) showing a local news reporter talking to the friendly neighbor Spider-Man in the midst of the storm. Both are really entertaining to watch!

I know THIS is NOT 'officially' the final look for the AVENGERS superheroes in their upcoming 2012 movie, but I love this artwork. There's just that awesomeness to it. As some of us have come to know already (through leaked out information via internet), there has been some changes done to their costumes during production. It doesn't damper my spirits but it gives me newfound appreciation and faith to the folks at Marvel Studios (now with Disney) who know their characters so well and how they should be portrayed on-screen rather than movie companies dictating everything thus ruining it all .... But thanks to Marvel, they got all their big name characters lined up for the first-ever superhero team-up in movie history! Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Nick Fury - together!

Like it or hate the trend - Hollywood filmmakers are currently remaking/rehashing/rebooting the hit movies that we (grownups) have come to appreciate and love for so long (by as far as the span of 20+ years). However, the new films released have only little or mixed success. In 2009, FAME flopped. In 2010, THE KARATE KID was a box-office winner! In 2011, ARTHUR (starring Russell Brand) didn't get noticed much either. Then this summer (which was just a weekend ago), the movies FRIGHT NIGHT and CONAN THE BARBARIAN didn't even put much of a fight in the box-office against a new and original movie called THE HELP. Although in the top 5, these films were still disappointments to say the least - not even meeting the box-office successes of its predecessors decades ago. Even with what's happened in the crops of failures, the idea of remaking movies is still in fruition. So what could we expect next? Well, we still have RED DAWN and FOOTLOOSE coming this fall to theaters. That's probably the last of the reboots for this year. But enter next year and the near future - there'll be lots more. Titles already being talked about or have already been in-production are JUDGE DREDD, DIRTY DANCING, FLATLINERS, ROBOCOP, SHORT CIRCUIT, ROMANCING THE STONE, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR, and several more. Actually here's a LINK to check out regarding more rebooted titles. It's interesting as you keep scrolling ... The little or no success part is a 'no-brainer.' Every thing in a remake is already expected and we know obviously what's going to happen (if the story line is certainly going to be the same). But sometimes, even a new plot wouldn't get much attention. The biggest disappointment of a remade movie is that it lacks the essence, soul, spark, and magic of the original. And that Hollywood is just in to reek in more box office cash giving the new generation to appreciate these new crop of rehashed flicks tailor-made for them. It's more like tweaking or adding bells & whistles to the original by using the best damn cinema technology and fine-looking actors to play the parts ...The ONLY movie I've been most proudest of in terms of a successful remake was THE KARATE KID with Jaden Smith. It has some elements and spirit to the Ralph Macchio/Pat Morita starrer BUT it's mostly different in every aspect with characters, settings, locations, etc ... I'm not sure how Hollywood will go as far as into making reboots, but if they ever want an original screenplay, they can come find me. I got a great story for them should they ask. For now, it's under safekeeping - until the time is right. I may not be J.K. Rowling, but I can deliver something good. Yeah, I'm giving bragging rights about it but I do have the story already broken down to 22 chapters.

Me and Rizz agreed - it's 'surprisingly good!'

Sure, it may have been an underperformed, underrated, mediocre flick in the theaters - but it's really worth watching. Watch it with good intentions and you'll fall instantly in love with it. Mel Gibson gives a powerful performance as Walter Black (with his Beaver puppet) and Jodie Foster is amazing as both the on-screen wife of Walter and being the director of this film.

Okay, so LiLo (known to the world as the once-great-talented-actress now turned major-tabloid-mess) is suing Pitbull over his lyric from the hit 'Give Me Everything' that references her being as 'locked up.' I must admit it wasn't right for Pitbull to address her 'by name' in the track, BUT LiLo must NOW wake up and face the music ONCE-AND-FOR-ALL if she considers never to be mocked at, joked at, or be treated in a negative light again. She has to prove to the world she can change and be that better person, maybe get back into the acting gigs again. It's because of her previous actions off-screen (many of which have been deemed overly outrageous and crazy) that's been getting more of the spotlight than the acting career she once was blessed to have. You know, none of this wouldn't have happened if it weren't for her partying, drugging, and drinking ways. If I was to place the blame on any one, it'd be on her parents Michael and Dina. It seems they have done little to get her back on track and the fact, they are no longer together ... Pitbull should've known (when he was recording this track) that this was gonna get to him one day, especially from one LiLo (hmm, maybe he should've just mentioned the name Lindsay, but not her last name -- he would've been off-the-hook on that one). I'd feel the same way like her if my whole name ever pops up as a bad reference in some rapper's song. Then again, any rapper would throw in bad rhymes to any one or anything. Take Eminem for example, who dissed just about anybody even those who didn't even picked on him. Or Kanye, Jay-Z, 50 Cent throwing down beat rhymes having beef against their enemies ... Really, there are no winners or losers when it comes down to Lilo vs Pitbull. Each should learn from their own consequences. Both should assume their responsibilities as grown-ups in this forgiving society, as well as accepting accountability. I can only hope for the best for these two and letting them move on respectively in their careers (perhaps never crossing each other again). Let 'Mr. International' stay 'Mr. International' and let LiLo be dedicated to her acting career again and that means no fooling around. That's how it should be done.

In a matter of hours this Friday evening, Hurricane Irene is gonna slam the Outer Banks (a/k/a OBX, for shorts) of North Carolina. Authorities there have already given the order of evacuation to residents and tourists, which means no vehicles or people should be present while the storm is in progress ... The storm's intensity at the Category 3 status has already caused massive damage in its destructive path (Puerto Rico and the Bahamas) and have claimed someone's life ... The east coast is next to take the brunt of Irene, with the exception of Florida in which it was able to skirt away. It was just days ago that the east coast underwent its first bout of an earthquake (since the one in 1877) that stretched from Virginia to as far as New York and Chicago ... I can feel what they're going through right now. But as in most cases of these storms, they'll do okay. I have faith in the people, especially that of my family and friends there in the Norfolk/ Virginia Beach area. Damage will be done, some of which might turn out to be extensive - and that is expected. But having gone through the past episodes of hurricanes in Virginia, I know that there'll always be the light of day (as this storm pass) when all is said and done. It'll be around Saturday when Irene kicks into high gear in Norfolk/ Virginia Beach. Here's hoping for all the best against the wrath of nature. In the end, the triumph of the human spirit will shine through.

Yesterday left me in great shock of disbelief saying to myself, "This can't happen to Steve Jobs. Apple needs Steve Jobs. And Steve Jobs needs Apple. Without each other, they can't exist."

Looks like they will have to part ways (sort of) being it that he resigned as CEO but still remains as one of the members of Apple's board. His shift now is to bravely fight the symptoms of pancreatic cancer - something more farther, deep and scarce rather than something created from scratch or upgraded in the digital plantation. All we can hope for is the absolute betterment of his health perhaps trying to achieve more breakthroughs in technology innovations with the time he still has left to live. He's got a big digital footprint, that's for sure!




Steve Jobs isn't dead - not by a long shot. The man is still living and should continue to be revered and praised as one of the greatest revolutionary icons in the technological world that exists today, and even in mainstream American/global pop culture. He helped (and continues to) innovate all this useful technology making it easy & fun, especially for graphic artists and multimedia gurus. Let's not forget too that he revised Xerox's idea of the graphic user interface and making it better. That's the pointing-clicking-scrolling you do now with your mouse or fingerpad, touch-screen and what-have-you on any one of the devices and gadgets that are in the market then AND now - from the MacBooks to the iPods to the iPhone. Wow, that's a long time from the heydays when he and co-founder Steve Wozniak came up with the made-from-scratch wooden computer in the late 70s.

Personally, I am happy of Steve and Apple's achievements as the company's been a part of my life. I wouldn't be enjoying technology like I am now especially with my 4th Gen 20GB iPod (still going strong since 2004) and my 3rd Gen 4GB iPod Nano (that plays my favorite music videos and movies, too). They're just soooo awesome. I also enjoyed having an Apple computer of my own to do my graphic design artwork during my college days in the mid-90s. In the future perhaps, I'll own another Mac computer again. For now, me and Rizz are blessed to have a MacBook from 2007 that has been loaned to us from a dear friend. This'll give me an opportunity to be refreshed and become familiar with the Mac environment and all the plethora of apps (after so many years using Windows at home and at my previous workplaces). Maybe along the way, an iPhone 5, 6, or 7 can be the next best thing, too. We shall see, folks.

Today (8/25/2011) marks the 10-year anniversary of Aaliyah's sudden passing. The songstress along with her entourage perished in a plane crash upon leaving the Bahamas after the 'Rock The Boat' music video shoot. She left behind a successful music career that has spanned well over 7 years. Her lasting legacy will forever be remembered for generations to discover, appreciate and embrace.

Song Gems Revisited: Lauryn Hill - Everything Is Everything

I wonder what happened to Lauryn Hill's music career after this groundbreaking album from back in '98. She had really good songs that everyone can bob their heads to. Her music was fused with straight-up urban, hip-hop beats sometimes thrown in with some retro sounds. Her dynamic soulful vocals along w/ her street style rhymes were so infectious, too, to our ears. Before there were stars like Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, among others, Lauryn Hill was just that in '98. No one could touch her style. But all of a sudden, she disappeared from the blip of the radar after marrying one of Bob Marley's sons and becoming a mom to her children. Hopefully, she'll re-emerge back on the scene - not temporarily, like we've all witnessed - but permanently. This is one of my favorite songs from her debut solo album 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill." She was a part of the group The Fugees in which she also helped catapult the success of the group (alongside Pras Michel and Wyclef Jean) with the hits 'Fugee-La', 'Killing me Softly' (remaking Roberta Flack's song) and 'Ready or Not'.... Music video is neat, too with a spinning New York City backed by a needle and a hand to forward/reverse. LOL. Come back, Lauryn Hill :)

CNN: "Magnitude 5.8 earthquake shakes Virginia, D.C. and New York"


Hoping that everyone including my family and friends are doing okay. I've heard from my cousin Erick who questioned the event on his Facebook profile saying, "Is it me? Or i just felt a f**kin EARTHQUAKE?" As for us folks here in the Chicago area, we weren't impacted at all.

If anyone has noticed (especially in my recent blogs), titles no longer appear - unless it's a special blog segment (Photo Blogs, Song Gems Revisited, Speak Out, etc). So that'll take some getting used to for all of you loyal readers. Despite this minor change, the blogs will forever remain the same staying true to my writing spirit. Stay tuned for more blogs to come! Things are just gonna get better!

Amidst all the egos fused together at the workplace, I do my best to maintain the pressure and focus on the objective at-hand. Its all about doing the job to the best of my ability from start to finish. This is not easy either no matter where we all work at - such as an attractive, expensive office building inhabited w/ white collar workers or in a labor job in a tough, gritty environment with blue collar workers. People's negative (and sometimes hostile) attitudes DO NOT and NEVER represent the workplace. Many of them will never realize the proper codes that are set. Their actions are nothing more than a barrier of distraction offsetting the goals of what's needed to be completed during the day or week. If it were only easy to rid of that from everyone as well as ourselves, right? But that's just the way that it is in this world today - not a pretty picture all the time. However, keep yourself composed and think positive all the time no matter what. Again, I must say that its not easy but hang in there. Take it from me..... I'm fortunate enough to be a likable face at work and doing my best to provide the necessary teamwork that's essential for the company as well as the able-bodies who are recognized for what they do. In the end, we can all smile and go home happy (minus the road rage, too, but let's save that for another blog..lol)

I cleaned out a section of the home/office today. Some of the items that were in this room before has transferred to the bedroom. That includes my iPod and the Bose speaker deck that it attaches to. At least it'll be good to know that I'm gonna listen to music while laying comfortably in bed. The extra space in the home/office will make way for a state-of-the-art treadmill in which I am to get in a couple of weeks from now. Its the type that can fold back up once I'm done with my running activities there. I look forward to that moment. So that means the home/office will now be also referred to as a gym-of-sorts. I plan to buy a small ab exercise equipment but I think I'll put that in the bedroom. Everything just in time for fall and winter season, huh. Cabin fever will be really interesting this year and the next :)

Song Gems Revisited: Blessid Union of Souls - I Believe

My cousin Shelli brought this song to my attention. Gosh, it's been years since I've heard this Blessid Union of Souls track on the radio, or even on the CD single (that I left in Virginia Beach). Eliot Sloan's vocals and piano-playing skills still remain prevalent and the same even if it's well over a decade now. Lyrics are so powerful and states a good message. I think this is the kind of music that new generation teens should listen to rather than most of the junk filled with a lot of crap nowadays ... Eliot and the Blessid Union of Souls are still active on the music scene, this time releasing their first-ever Christian album. 

I created a WIX-based webpage!

In a span of well over 4 hours this evening, I was able to come up with my own WIX-based webpage that showcases my journey (via photos) in different areas - namely Hampton Roads, Orlando, and Chicago. I finally gave in to the WIX hype after seeing the TV ad this morning. So I said, 'why not give it a try?' WIX is pretty easy for a starter or a total pro and it's a good way to promote a business or yourself, especially if you're an artist or a musician ... I hope many of you will like it. Its one way to thank those around me for the great company no matter where they are.

Music Beta by Google ---- your music collection streamed for your listening pleasure!

Just a few days ago, I was invited to the Music Beta Google app by my friend Gary via Google+. And now, I'm using this like a 'madman on a mission.' It enables us to upload up to 10,000 songs for FREE. Right now, I am uploading up to 2,000+ MP3/AAC files from my music collection via iTunes that are currently stored in my new 1TB hard drive. Some of 'em may not work out because its encoded with DRM (Digital Rights Management). As far as everything goes, they're transferring in impressive fashion through the Comcast/Xfinity high-speed powered internet. Songs are uploading like a breeze. That's way, way faster than the days when we used peer-to-peer network via Napster with our dial-in modem. Remember that? Lol. Glad we don't ever have to look into those days again. As technology innovations and breakthroughs go, it just makes it easier for us (end users) to enjoy the comfort of the PC no matter what internet type of activity we are doing such as uploading music (a long time hobby for many now, I'm sure). But going back to Music Beta Google app - it is a convenience for me. Its my own virtual hard drive of songs on cloud nine. I don't have to take my hard drive along, especially if I'm on vacation. My computer and laptops are working well so far streaming my music collection from Music Beta and hopefully with my future HTC EVO phone (THE phone gadget for next year) which has the capabilities (as my Blackberry Curve doesn't have the juice to load and play songs properly --- and YES, it rebooted in front of me -- AACK! lol). I'm all good with everything. So far, Music Beta by Google ROCKS!  It delivers! I hope this service will go on for free.

Gotta love RealPlayer :)

RealPlayer is at its best right now with its software. It gives me the chance to get videos from YouTube and convert it to the format that is compatible with iTunes. The same goes with songs made available to MP3 formats. It helps convert YouTube videos to audio-only format when one prefers getting sounds instead. However, if there is a mishap that occurs with a RealPlayer-created MP3 on your iPod/iPhone (in which the song plays only from 5-30 seconds), best bet to remedy that is to convert it again to the AAC format (the iTunes compatible format) ..... I really love those smart alecks behind-the-software that continue to help innovate RealPlayer for what it is right now. And that's straight-up legal. If it weren't, RealPlayer would be banned from ever being used again by all the consumers and music lovers out there. I'm just enjoying my music and video tracks more than ever .

My friend's got beats - tons of 'em

I had the chance to meet up with my co-worker and friend, Rene, who doesn't live too far down from me here in Aurora, IL. Both of us have the same interest when it comes to the old-school jams, especially in the freestyle dance music sector. But man, he has A LOT! I felt overwhelmed with most of the gems he had on his 780GB Maxtor brand hard-drive. Some I haven't heard in a long time - perhaps even decades. And then there are those songs I'm not even familiar with. He's had an arsenal of them to play back. Chicago is one of the major U.S. cities that had acts who became innovators either from a commercialized standpoint, or even in the underground music scene for that matter. And my friend is a DJ too so he knows almost everything entirely .. One interesting track was 'French Kiss' that went fast then slow then fast again. It sounds like a woman is having the time of her life having sex (you heard it right - she is moaning and screaming in the song). The old-school stuff that had freestyle and breakdancing jams were the best ones in his collection. That seems to be the main ingredient I need for more the new 1TB hard drive that I bought. So far, I have used up 23GB which is my current music collection on my iTunes. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the songs from his laptop because he only had 1 USB port, but I'm sure he can have time to stop over my place so I can get my grub on for these hot back-in-the-day faves. Pretty much, to be continued....

With the addition of Google+ as a 'new' part of my present social network site choices - Twitter and Facebook, it also marked my exits from MySpace and Friendster (after my long-term stay with them). However, caught in the mix is the other network LinkedIn which is possibly the most important of 'em all. I will need to get very active with all the connections out there that may give me a good shot at a promising job (or better yet, a career). I'll be sure to invest more time in getting my LinkedIn account updated. That's next on the social network agenda.

There's a cop....What did I do?

Ok, so there's a cop wanting to talk to me. And he doesn't look too happy, either. But what did I do to make him go all the way to a store's stockroom to find me while I'm at work?

Let's flashback, shall we?

The assignment location that afternoon was at Geneva Commons in Geneva, Illinois. My boss wanted me to get some additional supplies in the company vehicle. And I gladly went about in doing so. After obtaining the requested items from the trunk, I peered through the vehicle's window (on the driver's side) making sure that all my belongings were secured in a hidden place. I observed a police car (not a mall security - but from the town itself)  patrolling the shopping complex while I was heading back into the store with the items. I thought everything seemed the usual - or so I thought it were to be.

Now, onto the present situation at hand....

The cop came into the store's stockroom not looking one bit happy. He seemed like he wants to prey on his next  criminal. And it was me that was his next target. He wanted to question me privately. He gave me the gesture with his finger and called me out like I'm some kinda dog or a version of a lowlife that's not 'white-skinned' as he was. My boss, my supervisor Rizz, and all the workers were wondering about what's going on. After he requested to talk to me alone, the cop asked me if the company van was my vehicle. I said, "Yeah." And then he asked me why I was peering through the window. I told him, "I wanted to make sure that all my private belongings were secure and not in the open. And that's why I looked." Then, he headed out. No apologies. Nothing. He wanted to bust me for a crime, I'm sure those were his intentions. If it was probably someone that was white that had done this type of crime (the one the cop assumed I did), he'd probably get away with it.

The way the cop dealt with me got me all riled up and mad inside. But he did what he had to do since car break-ins have been happening a lot in the Geneva/St. Charles areas. Still, he should have done his procedures a little better than the act he pulled on me. Seems like he tried to vest so much power from out of his super-power police badge being a jerk instead. What he did doesn't represent the town's law enforcement. It was his doing. I still believe in the heroic 'Officer Friendly' from my heydays of grade school and I know there are good ones out there properly ridding and doing away criminals in a rightly way.

My work performance didn't falter. I kept on that night and to the next day. I was able to discuss my situation with trustful co-workers and shared my sense of humor on it. I am 'all good' about it and can move on with life.

I remembered talking to Henry Del Toro (a 'shock jock' legend known as 'The Bull' for FM 99 WNOR in Hampton Roads) in the men's restroom right after we both watched a movie in the theater. I believed the movie we saw was 'Cast Away.' He told me how important going back to school was for him and that he wanted to be somebody fulfilling his dreams. He wanted me to do the same in my life one day. Two years down the road, Del Toro passed away from natural causes at age 44. I felt honored meeting with him even if it was just that one time. And I wanted to always get an opportunity to have a conversation with this legendary local DJ for a long time since I've been hearing his voice, as well as pranks done on the radio. He was a good man who found solace and peace of mind after his crazy and controversial days on the radio waves. I used to listen to him often on FM 99 WNOR when I was young.

My review on the first episode of the 2011 THUNDERCATS animated series

It was what I expected. Gone are the usual cliches and cheesiness that defined the Thundercats cartoons for generations - from little kids to grownup manchilds or fanboys, in particular at the Comic-con. This is a serious retelling of the mythos with a deeper plot and emotional storytelling. The battle between good and evil couldn't have been told any better other than what was seen in tonight's world premiere episode of the 2011 Thundercats series. The animation is superb having the manga-inspired style AND wow, it looks stunning on my LED TV. I am happy to know that Lion's father King Claudus was voiced none other than the original Lion-O himself, Larry Kenney, an iconic voice character legend like Peter Cullen is to the '84 Optimus Prime in the Transformers Generation 1 cartoons. Expect this series to be not like your father's or big brother's Thundercats. It won't have any brighter colors or the humor. This is gonna be one heck of a journey as these Thundercats go through a dark time at first and then emerge victorious over their enemies. However, despite some of the differences it has from the original cartoon, the spirit and the 'feel' still remains intact. I am looking forward to more Thundercats episodes coming up and you bet, I'll be sure to get them on the DVR. I LIKE THIS!!!! Looks like the little kid in me is up for cartoons again as if it was 1984 all over again.

Hoop Day - 7/26/11

Conditions were humid. It was already starting to feel dry. The breeze that came in was little relief. No matter what, I have to put forth my best efforts on the court. I was actually beginning to tire out since I worked a few hours ago in the early morning. This would be interesting as I haven't done anything like that since fall of last year. Despite the tireness looming ahead, I gave it my all. Layups, fingerolls, turn-around jumper, 3pt arc shots from the middle. Most of 'em went in...Then, a young dude went to the court to shoot hoops while listening to his mp3s on the headphones. I was kinda nervous because he'd probably be watching me. But he minded his business and so did I, on him. We had the mutual respect. He saw me hit a couple of jumpers and a few 3s until I really started wearing out. One more, I banked it in! I called it a day and told him to move to my court area since he was shooting at a rim that contained a damaged net. He smiled. I did the same. And that was it! I was satisfied of shooting almost 50+ hoop points today.

Looks like one of the fellas I used to work with is now behind bars in a county jail. I've gotten to know this dude for a couple of months (perhaps up to a year) since moving to Illinois way back in early 2010. He's a people's person sometimes with a bit of an attitude, but that's just a part of his persona, really. He also has a knack of athletic talent, too. He had a brief run with local mixed martial arts matches. But all of that would soon pass as he commits a crime which involves him with an underage 12 year old girl. I had to wonder what was the state of his mind at that time. Did he know the direction he'd be heading to or what the consequences would be for himself? It's hard to tell right now because he's not here to give me his perspective ... All I can say is that I hope he'll find peace of mind through all this and showing act(s) of contrition knowing he was at-fault for everything. He's a good friend since I've gotten to know him on day one at the job. I believe in 2nd chances and I hope he turns this all around somehow. Everyone's pointing fingers at him, I'm sure, but he definitely knows better especially now, about right and wrong. The people and the law will ultimately decide the fate of him and I respect with whatever justified ruling they are going to impose. He'll certainly be in my thoughts and prayer. If he can win a match in the octagon, I'm sure he can somehow find a way to win through all this.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER is awesome!

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER is a brilliant superhero masterpiece. Marvel Studios has done it again!!!! Chris Evans portrays another Marvel hero-in-tights, this time as Steve Rogers (a frail young man from Brooklyn, NY who becomes Captain America). His previous role was Johnny Storm (turns into The Human Torch) in the now-forgettable FANTASTIC FOUR films. Evans played the Steve Rogers/Cap role dedicatingly, believability and with precision based on the hero's mythos from the comic book pages ... The rest of the cast were great including Tommy Lee Jones, Neal McDonough, Derek Luke, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Stanley Tucci and Hugo Weaving (as The Red Skull). Director Joe Johnston delivers 40's-nostalgia once again just like he did with THE ROCKETEER movie almost 20 years ago ... One thing I must critique strongly are the action sequences. It seems a bit clipped and rushed. Maybe some of this will be meshed w/ the deleted scenes that can move on as flashbacks for the CAPTAIN AMERICA sequel in a few years. And I do hope for a possible reunion between Atwell's on-screen character, Peggy Carter and Cap himself. It'll be weird as he'll still look young in the modern day and she'll be old then (88 years old, to be exact) - but true hearts never age ... The movie's elements, pace, and visual effects were great overall (especially in the 3D format) and I do look forward to THE AVENGERS next year in which S.H.I.E.L.D. leader, Nick Fury (played impressively by Sam Jackson) assembles the heroes - THOR, IRON MAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA, THE HULK, BLACK WIDOW and HAWKEYE.

Amy Winehouse (14 September 1983 – 23 July 2011)

It is with sadness today to know that one of the greatest musical gems of our time has suddenly passed away. English singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse, known to many for her smash hit 'Rehab' was found dead in her Camden flat, as reported a few minutes ago before this blog posting. It is said that she had died from a drug overdose. Winehouse struggled with drugs throughout most of her fame.

Take time to appreciate a worker fulfilling his or her duties outside. They really deserve the utmost praise for sticking it out in the heat (while the majority of us go about in our daily activities indoors or in the vehicle going from point A to point B). Perhaps giving an outdoor worker a bottle of water would be the ULTIMATE gratitude along w/ the respect that's already given. A year ago, I saw a lady in her vehicle take a cool bottle of water and handing it to a construction worker doing his job on the road. That itself was a totally cool gesture of humanity there.

This HEAT WAVE is currently gripping most of our nation right now with high record-setting temperatures reaching the 100+ mark, including that of Virginia and Illinois (places that I have lived/living, respectively). Many prefer to stay indoors while others have no choice but to go forth with their business aspect from the outside. While most kids think of the summer as a fun time, serious measures (no matter if you are young or old) should always be considered especially keeping the body fully-hydrated (up to at least 8-10 bottles) and limiting exposure from the sun's powerful UV rays. And then there are the unfortunate - those that have no choice but to stay home and endure the heat inside. I totally feel for those that lost electricity from big storms and for many who just can't afford a single A/C unit for their homes.

My best advice is to always keep yourselves in A/C-operated environments whether it's at work, in your vehicle, a mall, a museum --- anything A/C, really. LOL. All of that will add a lot of comfort and convenience for your body to feel great like if it is any other summer day!

I'm not exactly sure what's gonna happen next in the coming days ahead, in regards to temps, but hang in there, everyone.

It's a great song all its own. Bic Runga's vocals in 'Sway' are just amazing. It makes one instantly fall in love with the tune. I didn't even know it was in the movie 'American Pie' until I watched it a few years later. I got a hold of Bic's album on CD through my friend Cecelia back in the late-1990s.

Thanks to my friend, Randy for inviting me to Google's exclusive social-networking community. A few days ago, I was able to work minor tweaks to my profile there. In the coming times ahead, I will add more to what I have posted there already in regards to my background and such. I hope to establish connections to my family and friends alike that are already on Facebook. For now, Google's project remains miniscule offering this service to invitees from member to member - but it's sure to raise a lot of eyebrows when it'll be out in the open.

First-time in Shedd Aquarium

Today was a good day. Sunny skies prevailed over the passing gray clouds. And we were fortunate enough to remain dry for the most part. We took advantage of the weather by going to Shedd Aquarium located near Lake Shore Drive in Downtown Chicago. It was my brother's first time as well as for myself. Riza's been there on a few visits and she noticed some changes inside...We saw a lot of aquatic sea animals in the exhibits within the glass, including those of ginormous proportions such as turtles and fish. I never knew there were any like that. I guess I know now. We also saw Happy Feet in 4-D in which we felt the effects on our body (particularly, the back poke---OMG.lol) In the end, we saw some belugas, dolphins and a walrus at a show which was entertainingly awesome...We weren't able to see everything because there was just an abundance. However we can get a second chance sometime because Riza helped obtain a 1-year membership in which we can go there repeatingly for a year. Totally rocks! We hope to come back and I hope the same for Jeff, too. The Shedd Aquarium is a fun-filling experience worth the price of admission for everyone from kids to grownups alike.

Plus, its all about no stress & the best relaxation he deserves especially at a time when its so hot lately in the Chicago area...More importantly, its best to free up his mind from all that he's enduring so far back home in Virginia. I can easily tell that he's ready to face new things when they come and break free from the usual elements that clouds his mind lately. I could recall vividly about my same experiences around his age. Its all about the desire to achieve and having the freedom to do anything. What I can do is offer him pointers at the same time letting him enjoy Chicago to the fullest :)

Prices were a dollar and a few cents higher than the last grocery store I shopped at. Plus, the rice was really bad, too. I'm gonna go back to buying the Asian brand again. It definitely beats the generic brand.

Resting after a long day of work is essential

There are days when we, as able-bodied employees, put our best effort to work. It can take a toll on our eyes, our ears, and the rest of our body (depending on one's profession in the workplace). Some of us might've gotten enough sleep before we left for work and others probably got the lackthereof. And then there are those that are stuck in between a double-shift schedule taking a nap in the middle .... Through it all, no matter how much or how little we put in our daily work tasks and duties, we must take time to rest. It could be minutes, a few hours, or maybe even longer. Whichever the case, rest is essential. It'll bring a recharge for the next round (bringing about the energy to keep going on and on), a state of relaxation (to rid of any added stress whether big or small), and the power to be mentally focused (rather than tiring out and losing comprehension of what's going on at the job) ... I must advise however that during rest, it must be at a place that is free from the noise and activity going on - plus it must be at a location that's safe from harm and disturbance. For example, we can't sleep in a subway train and let someone take our belongings or sleeping in your car at a public parking lot in a mall or grocery store (in which your chances of being carjacked is likely to happen). Your best bet during work is resting in your vehicle at breaktime the employee parking lot (depending on how safe and secure your workplace is). But being home is highly recommended as that's the best spot to be at for convenient resting ... As for my friend and co-worker Ninh (pictured), he took advantage of his rest during a 1 1/2 hour ride home in which I was driving the company van. With all the time he's invested in his rest, he performs his tasks with good results. Take it from him, rest is indeed essential.

Congrats to Ray & Marilyn on their engagement!

A big shoutout to my best friend Ray & his girlfriend Marilyn on their recent engagement. I am so proud of them....To Marilyn: "You got yourself a good man. I've known Ray for 15 years and he's always been looking for the right lady to call his own. He exemplifies the ideal God-fearing man who carries himself well with dignity, maintains his values and morals, and a friend to society (especially when he joined me in filipino-related functions being that he is always open to other cultures)"....To Ray: "I knew right then and there as I looked at her photo that Marilyn is definitely the one for you. You truly deserved someone special. The chemistry I have observed keenly between you two is inseparable and very real. Both of you are so sweet. I wish you two the very best in the times ahead, maybe we'll see each other in Disneyworld a few years from now (lol)"... Thanks again Ray for announcing the news via text. I'm so excited!

Shooting hoops in the park - wearing Jordans

It was becoming a hot morning as I went to the court. However, there was a bit of a breeze that kicked in too. Here I was sporting my Jordan gear. Last time I had on Jordans was when I played on the court with my friend & co-worker, Josh. But that was with a different pair of Jordan shoes and the white Jordan jersey. Today I had on the red Jordan jersey and Alpha 1 retro shoes. My performance was good in the very beginning. I was able to shoot left, middle, and right within the 2-point area. However, during the middle of it all, I decided to go on the 3-point arc once again and master what I learned days ago. Turns out, my shots there were average. The arc technique was gone and I struggled a little bit more. There were lucky shots that I made, but it seems that the arc technique was missing in most of my attempts. And I realized that was the missing ingredient to my performance. There's always next time. On the time remaining, I sat down and looked at the kids doing their skateboard thing. It's fun watching them do their tricks.

Job Search Update - 7/4/11

I've just started scrolling, pointing, and clicking away to find new jobs on Careerbuilder.com ... I only found 2 for the time being, but it's worth the shot. Feels like the odds are kinda against me right now especially the fact that I've been actively working in my present job. Perhaps I'll start to zero in on better companies to work for - not something that's not gonna last forever.

A SAFE & HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO ALL PROUD AMERICANS

My own spin on a 'Transformers' sequel story set after 'Dark of the Moon'

So 'Dark of the Moon' is movie history. And so will all of my Transformers blog posts for the meantime, until a new sequel is set into the future.

But before I let that go, I'm gonna put my own spin on a really cool storyline that can possibly move it to a new direction. That has to mean minus brilliant action director Michael Bay and sometimes overzealous, actor Shia Labeouf who plays Sam.

So what do I envision for a great story, as well as the elements? Ok, let me put my creative juices to work...I would want the Autobots to continue working with NEST and let go of the Sam Witwicky continuity. The Autobots should have their own base headquarters called 'The Ark' built somewhere near the mountains since Cybertron is no more. The main computer that they utilize is none other than Teletran-1. Optimus Prime will still be leader to the remaining surviving autobots and a new line of newly made Autobots that are now part of the army. Now here's what's interesting about them: they are made from recycled parts from those that were killed at one point - namely Jazz, Ironhide & Que, all thanks to Ratchet. Ratchet also takes out their memory chips and installs them to the brain area of the exclusive Autobots. Jazz, Ironhide & Que remember what happened to their fate and accept their new identities/vehicle forms. They are given new names and that some of the chassis/facial features they have now pretty much resemble their previous appearances. This reinvention of the characters would honor the G1 1984 cartoon (the concept, in which Bumblebee had a new body being named 'Gold Bug')... New autobots made-from-scratch are also part of the lineup such as Prowl, Seaspray, Cosmos, Hot Rod and Cliffjumper. A veteran also surfaces from the galaxy, as well. His name is Ultra Magnus. Everything seems to go right with NEST operations as they fulfill world peace until the remaining surviving Decepticons from different nations join forces and take the remains of Megatron, Starscream, Barricade, The 3 Dreads, Shockwave, and Soundwave in their possession. The Decepticons forge an alliance with the planet-eating entity named Unicron - a huge bad ass giant robot. He gives them new bodies and new names, especially one Megatron who now becomes Galvatron. Starscream becomes Cyclonus and has a new army called the Sweeps. Sentinel Prime becomes Scourge .... The humans on Planet Earth and the heroic Autobots face a mighty giant battle, not just against a recycled group of Decepticon Army BUT also Unicron. THIS IS THEIR BIGGEST BATTLE YET!

Not a bad idea, right? RIGHT. It honors and remains closely linked to the original '94 cartoon series once again. What can make it work? Let's start with a director and genius. I wish it can be J.J. Abrams. He can pull it off. The man has been successful so far, especially with Super 8 and Star Wars. And he can team up once again with Steven Spielberg who can produce it. They'd make a bonafide team. It would be great for Kurtzman & Orci to take the idea I based here and translate it to the big screen. Under J.J. Abrams' helm, he can show a diff't perspective picturewise. If not Abrams, maybe Peter Jackson who can convey more of the characters likeness and heart into this. The robots should also have a well-known cast of voices. Maybe Tom Cruise as Prowl, Liam Neeson as Ultra Magnus, Will Smith as Seaspray, Jack Black as Cliffjumper and Zac Efron as Hot Rod. And Unicron would be voiced by either Vin Diesel or Michael Clarke Duncan.

So yeah, that's my idea right there all in one blog posting. This is THE END of the Transformers talk for now. Time to focus on the next things in life.

Watching 'TF: Dark of the Moon' for the 2nd Time

(WARNING: Before you go on reading, there are some SPOILERS mentioned)

I saw 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' for the 2nd time this week. In this latest outing, I was with Rizz and our friend/co-worker Shar, once again. The previous movie they saw with me - had a lot of male nudity. I'm referring to 'The Hangover Part 2.' Male nudity no more as we'll all watch a movie that took place in Chicago for the climactic battle finale between the Autobots and Decepticons. A lot of attention came last year when filming was abundant in the windy city. It's time to look into the finished product together in 3D format. For me, it's an encore presentation.

I enjoyed seeing it again - but some of it still remains traumatic.

*SPOILER* The Autobot Ironhide (pictured above) dies mercilessly in the hands of the traitorous, backstabbing Sentinel Prime - once a revered Autobot leader that Optimus Prime looked up to and believed in. Ironhide's last words (in his weak voice) to Sentinel was, 'What have you done?' Because of the effects of the cosmic rust coming from Sentinel's gun, his head and face came apart thus dying instantly. To a kid who adored Ironhide throughout the last 2 TF flicks, this must be heart-wrenching and painful to endure. This is perhaps THE worst death scene in the movies since Apollo Creed died in the hands of Ivan Drago in 'Rocky IV.' And it's not a 'brave, mighty, fight-to-the-death, blaze-of-glory' kind of death either. He was attacked from behind doing what he did to protect Sentinel Prime - and that was just - ugh - bad! This wasn't THE only Ironide death done in the Transformers' lore. While he lay dying (after being shot), Decepticon leader Megatron killed him with no hestitation and no mercy in 'Transformers: The Movie' (animated 1986 movie)... Another Autobot death was bad, too, this time from Decepticon Soundwave instantly killing the wise, aging mechanic Autobot named 'Que'who looks like a professor. That was just soooo wrong. Both of these deaths upsetted me, but I took it in stride being able to finish the movie off bravely for 2 hours and 40 minutes. And I will purchase this movie on Blu-ray once it hits stores soon (like 5 months from now).

I'm still blown away of the great effects they put to make a battle-damaged Chicago ... OHHHH, And it is so funny I found a movie mistake, too. What was the sign (I-88 Tollway to Aurora) doing in a Washington, D.C. highway scene? Only us Chicagoans can spot that error easily unlike the many people nationwide that are watching it now ... It's good to know that this movie is well on its way to setting a box office record as it nears $180 mil, unlike those crazy reports two days ago by the media thinking it'd fall short of expectations. Looks like people were just waiting for the weekend to come to treat their families out to see this flick.

Going back to that death scene, that's just one of many elements that make up the Transformers mythology. Heroes make noble sacrifices risking their lives in the process for the freedoms of many, including human beings. And that good will always overcome evil.

My Wish List: 'The Adizero' (as hyped up by Adidas w/ Derrick Rose)

I'm sure most of my close pals remember the 'customized' Adidas TS Bounce Commander kicks I sported back in 2009 right up to this present day. And there's even one particular friend who says I got a Peter Pan complex when it comes to wearing different kinds of shoes on certain occasions which holds true, but I don't think I'd refer it that way. When it comes to clothes and style, I like to coordinate pretty much ... Looks like there could be THE possibility of another Adidas shoe joining the elite of my shoe collection (that are stored well in the closet). It is the Adizero sneakers as hyped up by Adidas w/ Derrick Rose (current Bulls' star). They are in stores right now, as we speak but I'm still trying to save as much money in the part-time job I'm in. Maybe when the full-time job rolls along, this 'shoe' can become a reality. I've already customized it (once again, in Philippines flag colors - red, blue, yellow & white) in the 'Mi Adidas' website under my saved account. the TS Bounce Commander kicks I bought from there also got the same color coordination/scheme, too ... After shipping costs and such, the total came up to $177.00. That's a lot, huh - but that's what I should expect because it's customization that puts it up a notch ... If I am lucky enough to find the black Adizero sneaks in a shoe store, I can settle for that at $130.00. I can save $47 ... For now, this customized version of the Adizero will stay in my account for now as a 'wish list' along with other almost-bought shoes on that website.

PHOTOBLOG: Archie, Ashley, Jon, Sherwin & Me - at Regal 30 Stadium Theater in Warrenville, IL

Fellow Orlandoan friends - Archie, Ashley & Jon were able to join us Chicagoans (Sherwin and myself) at the Regal 30 Stadium Theater in Warrenville, IL. We watched 'TRANSFORMERS: THE DARK OF THE MOON' in Real 3D. We loved the movie but we're still wowed by what happened to Chicago in that movie. I am glad to have joined them this evening as it is the last day for the vacationers. They leave tomorrow ... I thank God for having the chance to meet Archie again after so long (make that 2 years). I hope we'll get another opportunity to hang out more in the foreseeable future. To Archie - God bless you always, bro! Til next time!

'TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON' was absolutely epic at the last hour....We're talking about betrayal, human and robotic casualties and total mayhem with explosions left and right. I still couldn't believe that the final battle was set in the heart of downtown Chicago. The effects alone really made the city look so badly damaged and scarred by the evil Decepticons. The filmwork in Chicago most certainly paid off.. This was THE darkest and MOST violent of all the Transformers movies, I kid you not. I must add that there is a major spoiler which broke my heart (an autobot mainstay dies a tragic death)..But in the end, you will always know that good overcomes and triumphs over evil, especially making the sacrifice to let goodness resonate.
